A not so thankful Thanksgiving!

So I park my car across the street from my girlfriend's house and go in to enjoy a lovely Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend. I Have a wonderful meal and just relax for the evening then go to bed. We finally pull myself ourselves out of bed in the afternoon and go out to my car to go to the nearby mall. I get out to my Koup and bam... there are shoe prints starting on the rear bumber, following onto the trunk, onto the roof, and finally onto the hood of my car. I AM LIVID!!! I don't even let anyone touch the paint on my car, the doors must be shut by the glass or the handles, and some punk ass kid(s) with no future decided to get drunk and walk on top of 3 or 4 vehicles all parked in a row. I say drunk because there were fresh beer cans littered in the street and I say no future: 1) because they purposely damaged someone elses property, and 2) the beer cans were a generic brand.

Now I know I am stereotyping here, but in this case I am right. It has been a great neighborhood until these hoodlum(s) move in with, who seems to be, his(their) grandma. Since then the cops are in the neighborhood every weekend.

Further evidence was collected by my girlfriend's dad. Just yesterday he pulled up to the house from work and the punk was walking down the street telling his buddy how he walked over all these cars. Telling the story as if he is proud of himself and what he had accomplished.

So today is the weekend again and I am gonna do a stake out. Hopefully I can catch these vandals and their mischief on video and if all really goes to plan I will be able to get the cops there to take care of them. And maybe I can get a new paint job out of it!

Oh man that sucks sorry to hear that. Good that it wasn't damage tho and can just be washed away but still sucks. Hate stupid kids that don't give a shit about anyone elses property (hard earned money)
Ya I still haven't had time to wash off the dust/shoe prints from the rain that happened that night, I think I will do that today. I am sure there are scratches under the dust... I will post more pics of the true damage once it is clean.
It doesn't surprise me. Kids of today are so spoiled, disrespectful and don't give a sh*t about other people or their property. You can blame society and their parents for that. As a kid growing up in TO we did our fair share of stuff but we knew where to draw the line. We may not have liked some of the older people, but we knew where respect came in and if we didn't we got the crap beat out of us.

Good luck with it and I hope they catch him and he pays his dues.
Ask him to show you the bottom of his shoes, you got the tread and foot Size!

Bet he can't weasel out of that.
It is interesting you say that because I mentioned that to the detective that took my report. He said that would do nothing... in my words 'that would only give evidence that the kid could have done it, not evidence that proves beyond a resonable doubt'. However he did mention that it was too bad that my car was so dirty from the rain becuase he could have taken prints from the rear spoiler where the kid put his hands in order to climb onto the trunk.
That sucks dude. That would piss me off beyond recovery.

I've had to do a similar "stake-out" before. Some kids shot my mustang with a BB-gun at night in the fog. Too bad cops didn't think there was enough evidence to prove kids with BB-guns were the ones who put a BB sized dent in my car. They shot out a driver side window of another vehicle.
Men! Canadians get routy when they drink? Not cool, not cool at all.
On a side note you have some really green shoes. Sorry lol
that sucks..but it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of damage. Nothing a little polish/wax job won't fix.
LOL, I was about to comment on the shoes, but I refrained myself.
man-i feel for you......i dont know what kinda detective was working that......
but there is a damn good chance that a street cop here would have called for the crimelab to pull those foot prints off-and grab the kids suspected- and at least ask them for samples......if the kids refused- at least your samples would be on record- and knowing brilliant rocket engineers like those types- they would do the same thing again later- wearing the same shoes- and guess what? backwards linking- they get arrested in act for later act of stupid- evidence from earlier now ties them to it- and now they got multiple charges........

sorry to hear you got such a bum rush from that detective......holiday weekend i am guessing.....
I hate to be the "Debbie downer" here, but in the grand scheme of crime fighting, petty vandalism isn't to high on the list. Not that I'm saying this should be brushed off, but it's just not that big of a deal. Unfortunately, the detective is right. Even if the kid was found to have the same tread on his shoes (which is pretty distinctive from looking at the pictures), their is no way to prove that he didn't just take his shoe off and "walk" it across your car. And if their is no damage, which is doesn't look like there is, there is no crime. It's not illegal to disturb the dirt on someone's car. Is it frowned upon? Yes. Would it piss me off? Absolutely.

All that being said, I think your best bet would be a little street justice. Chances are pretty high the kid doesn't know anything about the law, so if you were to confront him about it he might be afraid you will turn him in. Demand to see his shoes, then happily throw them over the nearest house, or into the thickest thorn bushes around. Is that the adult thing to do? Probably not. Will it make you feel better? I'd bet so! :) Sometimes you have to fight childish behavior with childish behavior.

Brutalllll...i'd be pissed if i was you. Although it still doesn't look like it's down to the metal (impossible to tell by the pics though). So maybe just a good buffing and maybe a paint pen will do the trick.

.....or insurance.
Hey Miker, I see you're in Alberta. I'm from Edmonton and I've had something similar happen to my last car. I took it in to a place called "The Dent Clinic" (in Edmonton) and they were able to buff out the scratches and pull out the small dents. It looked as if it never even happened. I have dealt with these guys a few times in the past and they do excellent work.
I bet if you dragged this kid into small claims court he would dig his own grave. You would have little to no evidence, but the judge would cross examine him and he would just fall apart. Some times the threat of a lawsuit brings out settlements.

Ya, I was looking into Ming Shine, but I will give these guys a call right now see what they say. Thanks for the info!
