I was sitting at the red light the other day, when a GMC pickup(claiming he lost his brakes) smashed into the car behind me which lurged forward and hit me.
when I saw the damage, I shed a tear.
This happened Wednesday and we have Sunday and still my car is sitting wrecked in front of my house. The guys insurance is taking forever to do anything. :'( an I'm 20 so I can't even get a rental...sh*tballs.

and I had, new badges, 6000K Fog HID's,red interior LED's, and a europeans license plate that says "hkka-mstr" on the way for her. Never even got to install them :(
Any airbags deployed? Are you okay?
no airbags, an I'm fine. it wasn't a big accident. but it's just sad to see my car like that. An I didn't cause it I was merely going to Wal-Mart to get groceries.
Sorry to hear about that hit, but it looks very fixable. If you have full coverage your insurance company is suppossed to fix your car asap- not his. After they fix your car they are suppossed to go after his insurance company for the money. Put some pressure on your insurance company.

I was going to do that, but my insurance told me I might have to pay a deductible, and why should I pay a deductible, I didn't ask to get hit. I don't wanna pay anything for this. :(

+1 sorry to hear about the car. Glad you are okay
thanks guys :) I hope to get it fixed as soon as possible I'm missing my car like crazy :(
A deductable is what your insurance contract specifies you must pay to make a claim [you agreed to this when you purchased the policy] . Pay it, fix your car and then sue the other driver for the deductable in small claims court.
Wow, that is a bummer for sure, glad to hear you're ok.
Too Bad I hate to see a nice car with an ouch!

Interesting about the deductible issue. Where live you only pay deductible if its your fault or there is no fault (hit an run or road hazard) The other persons insurance covers the deductible for being 100% at fault.

Good Luck and may your repairs be fast and better than stock.
yeah I hope to gain the 2011 KOUP LED taillights from this. However, I doubt they will agree to it...But it never hurt to try...

and yeah if the guys insurance doesn't do anything by Monday or Tuesday I will go through my insurance and sue for the deductible.
I have to laugh when I hear someone claim that their brakes failed... yet they drive the vehicle away. Truth is... they were simply not paying attention and don't man up to it.

If this happened on Friday, adjuster almost never work on the weekend (the insurance company can take the report over the weekend but nothing will be done until Monday).

The insurance company will pay for parts to replace the ones on it. If you file with the other person's carrier they will issue the check to the vehicle owner. What you do with the money is up to you. So you can use the money to put different tail lights on. Any difference in price will be your to address.

Even if you don't get a rental, you need to ask to be paid Loss of Use. This is owed even if you don't get a rental. It's the number of days that your vehicle was not safe to drive. If a tail light is damaged, it's not safe to drive. I just too another look at the photo. Your vehicle is not safe to drive as the bumper (not the cover) and absorbers are compromised. These are safety items and the vehicle is not legal to drive.

Kudo's to you for being 20 and taking photos with your phone! Everyone should have the mindset to do this after an accident!

If you file with your own carrier you don't sue for the deductible.... your carrier handles all of the recovery. If your carrier pays for part of the damage then they are surrogated to your right of recovery... for up to what they paid. I won't get into details... it's just that filing a legal Complaint against the other person is the long and hard road. I'd give the carrier until Tuesday (if reported on Friday) and then call them. Of you could call Monday if you feel the need. Probably around $2500 in damages.

Thanks so much for the info man! This happened Wednesday. So I will call tomorrow and ask for the loss of use money and also try to push them to get started on the whole process. Thanks again all of you guys!
Glad to know that you are okay.

Wishing you the very best....and hopes that your ride is 100% real soon.
Take your car to a Bodyshop for an appraisal. Negotiate for the Bodyshop to absorb some or all of the deductible. It is a very common practice that Bodyshops do not advertise.
Glad you're okay... I'm actually surprised at the amount of damage from a rear end hit, especially from what looks like a honda fit? I wouldn't have expected to see the rear deck lid pushed back that far. That must of been a pretty hard hit.
