If you're doing work in your garage you shouldn't be using a scissor jack anyway. Get a cheap hydraulic floor jack and a set of jack stands. Harbor Freight, Amazon, etc has some decent cheap options. A scissor jack is intended to just be used on the side of the road for changing to the spare tire, in which case the factory jack is the one you should use since they will be higher quality. Cheap aftermarket stuff like that rarely works as it should.

I had that one and it SUCKS and switched to a hydraulic jack. That scissor jack gave away a couple of times while working on car. Just glad I had something under car when it happened.

ALWAYS use jack stands when using any type of jack. The life you save could be your kids.

I have an old motorcycle jack from Harbor Freight that I bought back in 1998 for use on the VW engine for our VW Trike. I later used it on both out motorcycles and now I am using it on my 2013 Kia Forte. It works perfectly.
