Amp overheating

Best Buy installed my system for me and I have had no problems.

Honestly it might depend on the Best Buy you go to, because the one I went to the Geek Squad team that installed my system was fantastic. Installed everything professionally, put my subwoofer inside my ported box, wiring job is fantastic, the amp was placed on the back of the seat and overall it sounds amazing. Installation itself took about 1 hour. Maybe you should try going to another Best Buy. Btw what do you have installed in your car? It will definitely help knowing what you have for a system. The amp you have could very easily be the culprit.

I installed mine under the passenger seat. the back seat floor vent blows cool air right over it.

What brand is the amp? if it's that Insignia amp... I could show you a picture sometime of a repair center and the 50+ insignia amps there that have failed.

it was probably hooked up right, usually if something is wired wrong you will know it immediately, besides if they replaced it a bunch of times already then there is no way they screwed it up more than once, its probably just a shitty product, that or your friend is seriously boomin that shit night and day every second, a lot of amps(especially budget amps) can't take constant high loads especially over like a 20 minute(or longer) commute
all amps will shut off when they get too hot to protect circuitry and prevent fire, but its a circuit breaker that does this so every time it shuts off, the next time it will shut off easier and easier
they probably wired it through the fuse box so the amp will turn on with the car... not the radio, so even if the radio is off the amp is still on and will still overheat because power is still flowing

Fact Not all amps shut off when they get too hot, even amps that have this feature have been know to run-away when their protection circuitry fails
Fact. If an amp has power, but has no signal incoming or a low signal incoming, it doesn't mean power is flowing. That is a very loaded statement. Sure "power is flowing" but an amp in sleep mode, or an amp on will not overheat unless it is poorly designed or has an internal failure.
Fact. The radio does not have a turn on wire that is independent of the ignition.

Like i said earlier, its not me having the issues. I dont have an amp installed Its a guy i know who bought a koup sx off me when i sold kias. I'll relay the info above to him and see what he wants to do. Thanks for the info.

Im in Fitchburg, about 45 min for lowell. Unfortunately i cant make it out that way today. Got way too much ish to take care of. Definately meet up at one time or another. any chance you'd be insterested on trading stock wheels?
