Hey all.

On previous cars iv been able to have the car on acc and run an inverter (140W) off the aux plug for up to 10 hrs. This lets me use my laptop, cell etc on camping trips.

With the same optima yellowtop battery in the kia it only seems to run for 3-5 minutes before the inverter starts powering on and off. Cell phones and other small devices Iv used dont seem to care how long they are plugged in.

My question is: Does the kia only support small devices?

The manual says the engine must be on to use the outlets but thats lame.

Worst case Ill just wire the plugs direct to the battery :)

thanks for the input

A lot of cars won't run the power outlets with the car off. I think that is right, that all the power items (including windows, outlets) will run for about 3 minutes, or until you open the door.
Doesn't sound much like a camping trip if you have a laptop, cellphone and other electronics that are taking up your time. :)
