Hey people whats up? Got a question. I just brought my new Kia Forte SX sedan in black. My question is this, I have a rear spoiler that came with the car. The Spoiler has a brake light on it. So when I hit the breaks the tail light on the spoiler lights up, but the brake light in the rear window does not. I took it to my dealer and he said That the fuse from the tail light in the window was reconfigured to the spoiler. Is that true?

When I installed my spoiler I unplugged the wires at the socket for the stock third brake light. I didn't want both coming on. You might take a look at the base of your stock third brake light (from inside the trunk) and see if that is what has been done. If the plug is still connected maybe they took out the bulb. But as far as I'm concerned things are functioning as they should. Having both come on just shouts out "Add on spoiler - not factory!"

The spoiler's wiring harness connects into the harness for the rear window brake light -- that is the correct way to install it. I have the Kia spoiler on my sedan -- and installed it myself -- the instructions have you disconnect the wires to the rear window light -- in fact the wiring harness is made to mate to the rear window wiring harness. It is installed correctly.

If you look under your trunk area you will see the wiring connector near where the rear window brake light is.

When I got my SXR spoiler installed the left the window brake light attached. I just unplugged it.

Mine also has the brake like still attached, It looks like my spoiler brake light is jumpered to my left brake light.
Several aftermarket spoilers have directions that state to attach the brake wiring to the left brake light. My Koup's spoiler's direction stated this -- but I went ahead and connected it to the third brake light wiring without a problem.

The factory Kia spoiler instructions have you connect the wiring to the third brake light -- in fact, the spoiler wire connector mates to the third light connector.
