If you miss the 3 years warranty on the infotainment system you have to pay the diagnostic fee that varies based on the Dealer's menu.
This is a well-known problem that involves the UV rays in between the digitizer and the screen melting away and it's related to a specific model of LG panels that are on most 4 days and other models up to maybe 2022
As far as I understand they want you to change the whole unit for about $1,000 and if they're willing to do a Goodwill repair they can pay half of it but that won't really count on that because they're all Crooks you can buy just a screen from eBay and try to change it yourself which was my first idea but I think I'm going to wait till this goes to class action lawsuit because I guarantee you that affects a lot of kids and I recently saw a park Forte and look through the window and the screen was bubbled exactly the same way

I was informed from Kia that the way it works is; get vehicle diagnosis so they can gather the information/on record, then they would contact district manager at the dealership I chose, to see if they can replace/options, if that fails then they would bring it up to a manufacturer defect option. Im already pass the warranty period, which I informed them. I know the dealership isn’t going to replace it so Im hoping they replace under defect issue. But the dealership isn’t probably aware of the issue with the fortes navigation screen.

Good luck.
Dealerships are interested in making money so if there's an option as a defect issue I don't know about it.
I asked about the Goodwill and it failed so they wanted $1,000 for the unit I open a case I call it again and again and again all the different dealership same result so I hope you find a better dealer that is not greedy

My right side is slightly delaminated, when I took it in for deteriorating external window trim I asked about the touchscreen. $2300 to replace, you need to get it to them within the 3 year/36k warranty to be covered. They said in most cases it's only a cosmetic issue so not worrying about it. But if it goes class action I'll happily take a freebie. 😊

This is genuinely insane. Called the dealership they won’t fix it since it’s not a “well known issue” called MaxCare with carmax where I bought vehicle, they won’t cover it either since it’s “cosmetic” but after reading all of this it will turn into ghost touch and won’t be able to use my stereo system. Why can’t they fix this issue . Kia dealership told me I can buy one on eBay . 🙃

Cause they know, they don't care & it's the owners fault & problem, stealerships will find any reasons to deny repairs & replacement.

Damn sucks that $1,000+ oem stereos in modern laptops with wheels fail.

When the fully contected, integrated vehicle phablets & infotainment go out for whatever reasons, is why I absolutely love older vehicles or vehicles that use single & double din stereos.

When my old Kenwood DDX773BH finally stops functioning, I can always get another one.

I just bought a used complete nav system one off eBay for $170 really cheap, from an exact kia like mines that was totaled and looks like the system is good condition. Receiving this week on Wednesday. Hopefully it works good. But there is option to order replacement non gel screen on amazon for 130+ but just the labor pf doing it yourself is easy off youtube video. I accidentally ripped off main power lcd wire that i didnt know so i had to order used one off ebay

Happened to my 2019 Forte LXS. Called dealership to see if it was covered by my extended warranty and they told me that I had to pay $250 for a diagnostic to see if it's covered or not. If it is covered, I don't have to pay the $250 but if it isn't covered, I had to pay the diagnostic and the price of a new touchscreen. My radio has "phantom touch" problems. Changing menus and stations by itself. Only 6 years old, should be a recall

I have the same issue with my Kia Forte 2020. I have the extended warranty and they have replaced the radio two times and this issue is now happening on my third radio This issue sounds like a litigation issue. I am going to speak to lawyer to see if we can get class action lawsuit and demand a recall for this issue.

Validating, but also incredibly frustrating, to see so many other Kia owners dealing with the same issue. Nothing new to add—just adding my name to the growing list. My screen started bubbling around the 2.5-year mark but didn’t get noticeably worse until after year 3. The dealer wants $250 just for a diagnostic and couldn’t give me even a ballpark cost or acknowledge that this is a known issue.

Replacing the part is beyond my skillset, so I’d really appreciate it if folks could share what kind of shops or professionals they've found willing to install a replacement—especially if you're not going through the dealer.

Good luck to everyone. And yes, sign me up for the class action!
