K&N and AEM generally have a lip on the inside of their filters that help you get it in to the correct position. Crap filters don't.

You can push beyond the lip, you'll notice it gets harder to push the filter on.

Just for a FYI to help make it easier.

I bought a cheap ebay SRI intake for my previous Wave and after installing it I was driving around enjoying the sound and suddenly heard a weird pop noise and the intake noise suddenly got louder. When I pulled over and popped the hood I seen that the tube had slipped as far as it could go into the filter and past the rubber ring around the lip of the tube end, so now there was an opening to allow unfiltered air. Gotta watch those cheap intake setups. It wasn't a K&N filter btw so there was no lip on the filter to stop it from moving up due to air intake force.
