I was like you a few years ago, then I just realized it was a waste of money. Just get a nice cell phone capable of doing heavy data and you will be set. Most likely all the features you want in a carputer you can do in the newest cell phones, if you want to listen to music, then just plug in the phone in the aux or a usb into the reader.
Think about it, if you don't know how to build one, you will have to buy one already built, that alone is at least $1000 (for a cheap one) $2000 for a nice one, then the install; another $200. And then just wait for someone to break into your car and bye bye money.
