Considering a Koup for a daily driver: color questions

6139 Views 24 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  ryude
Hello to everyone here! Been lurking for a bit while doing research on possibly getting a Forte Koup as a fun little daily driver. I've test-driven one and been very impressed - definitely one of my top choices.

Anyway, my main question is regarding choosing a color. My first choice for a DD car would be white for ease of care but I want an SX so I can't get one in that color. Black is my favorite color but I already have a car in that color and I know how much work that takes to keep it looking spiffy.

That leaves me with three choices: silver, blue, or titanium. I know silver should be easy to care for but I prefer the other two since silver seems kind of generic.

So I'd like to know from owners of Corsa Blue and Titanium Fortes - how easy is it to keep your cars looking decent? Do they tend to hide dust, dirt, and minor scratches more easily or just the opposite?

I did have a couple of other question besides the color. I was reading the threads on the 2011s. Sounds like navi is coming for the next model year but do I understand correctly that'll be exclusive to auto-equipped "Luxury" models? I want a stick-shift so this is something that might affect my decision to get one now or wait. Also, is it confirmed that a new engine is in the works or is it still going to be the same Theta II?

Thanks for your replies!

What about copperhead, it looks great and is easy to keep clean!!!!
My last car was silver and now I have Corsa. The darker color is much less forgiving. It definitely shows dust and dirt easily.

Its such a gorgeous color though. I think its well worth it.
I have a Corsa blue and it looks nice as hell when its clean, but after a few days can look pretty nasty.
My Corsa Blue Koup does not hide dust & dirt well...but like others have said, it's an awesome color.

I would have preferred white overall (not available on US SX).
i have a Corsa blue sedan and it attracts dirt and dust, and bird s***, but it is a bad ass color, i get commented on it at least once a day. But the other colors are nice, but if you want blue you better hurry, they arent making that color anymore from what i know. i know when i got my car they had to special order it from 300 miles away. pretty much your preference. but blue is my choice but you gotta clean like every other day
you're looking for a daily driver... so a car that you just drive around daily... meaning you have another car that you take out at night or nice occasions etc etc... so why do you need an SX? EX gets better MPG and with the exception of the wheels, its pretty much the exact same car. fog lights are nice to have but they really dont have much of a need if youre driving it to and from work during the day. the different wheels IMO, arent a necessity if you're just using it as a DD. sportier suspension? meh, maybe? ive ridden in an SX and not much of a difference. so i go back to the better MPG on the EX trim and you'll spend 1+ grand less or... just my thoughts and honest opinion. why get a more expensive trim that gets less MPG if you are just using it as a daily driver. as far as color, with the ones you like, i'd go with the corsa blue. much better than the silver iMO

Red is the BEST

It stays pretty clean and doesn't show road film too badly. When you wash it, it shines like new. Just my $.02. And red cars are faster and girls like red car drivers more
and red cars get better gas mileage, and have less maintenance issues and red cars are faster and .....

I love the Corsa blue BECAUSE it shows the dirt. But my poor yard... (evil grin)
I have a titanium EX. It's pretty good at hiding the dirt. Not sure about scratches or swirl marks...i wash mine every second week.

You can get the 2011 with navi and a manual i think. That's the SX luxury trim. The automatic gives you paddle shifters.
Titanium silver covers the dirt very good. You only notice tar on it when you wash it. It is a nice and unusual color. And the silver inserts on the rims kind of match better with this color than with the blue or red. I have seen a red with red inserts and that looks awesome but as a daily driver, titanium silver is a nice pick
Thanks for the replies guys! You've pretty much confirmed what I thought. Corsa Blue is actually the easier color to get in my area with 2 or 3 dealers having a blue manual SX on the lot but no titanium sticks AFAIK. So I can probably get a really good deal on Corsa Blue but I was actually leaning slightly towards titanium for ease of care.

As for getting an EX, I thought about it but I really enjoy performance cars so the extra oomph is worth more to me than a few extra mpg and lower upfront cost. Even the SX gets FAR better mileage than what I have now lol.

Going to do some more research now and talk to some family and friends - might make a decision to buy by tomorrow depending on what they say.
Lime Green. Nuff said.
I have Copperhead and it shows no dust because it sort of just blends in, but it is one of the harder colors to find. I have seen all colors of the cars on the road with the exception of mine, in my area. It's nice to b unique :p.
Bright silver here. I do like the corsa blue though!...
racing red tinted windows nuff said

but,

I can't stop without saying, I get comments about how amazingly bright the red paint is. This comes from people that have seen it every day for almost a year.
A friend just bought the titanium. We had gone to a dealer at the same time so we had talked about colors. Anyhow he got the car and I walked right by it and didn't even spot it there in the parking lot at work. That surprised me because I normally spot any Kia. So the titanium really blends in with all the similar colors out there. I like the color but I'm thinking I want something that will stick out a bit more. It used to be that everyone was getting silver but now it's all the darker greys that are all the rage. So I'm looking at red or blue.
Yeah sporty cars just shouldn't be a dull gray. ;)
Well, after bouncing it off other people I've decided I'm going to wait for the 2011s. The changes seem to be substantial enough to be worth waiting for. So I guess I'll be lurking on this forum for a while before I can post pics about my own car lol.
