Can someone tell me how the "ECO" light works in our cars? I do not have the economy package so I was just wondering. I thought it would be on when your foot was not in the gas but that is not the case.

Other thing is I just got an email from the guy I bought the car from and he said my first service was at 3000 miles, Im at work so I dont have my book. Is this correct? I thought I read here somewhere our service dates were like 5, 10, 15,000 miles.

eco are for automatics. they light up when the gas is being correctly used/distributed. (don't know the right word)

i waited till i reached 5000 miles for my first oil change. and did tire rotation. i'm going to do alignment, rotation, oil change at 10,000miles.

it just tells you when your driving fuel efficiently... it doesnt actually change anything like the eco packages... you can turn it off if you hit the trip button a couple of times and when it says eco on hold down the trip button.

I keep my ECO light off all the time, like was said you get to in useing the trip botton and then select off. I my Koup is my 4th Kia and I always change the oil and rotate tires at about 6000 miles The book says 7500, but that is a bit far. Just make sure to check your oil ever now and then as some of the Kia engines like to use a bit of oil even new.

Sounds good. Guess I need to check my book when I get home to be sure I dont have to bring it in at 3000 miles for an oil change or something. I have a jack at home so I can rotate the tires myself also. U know it being the very first oil change, doing it at 3 would not be a bad idea, I just dont want to take time off of work, drive 30 miles to the dealer and have it done unless I have to due to the warranty. Know what I mean?

Wonder why the saleman said the first service was due at 3000? Just trying to get me back in down there????

They want you to bring it in at 3000 miles so you can give them money. I got my oil changed at 3000 on my car for the first oil change, just to make sure there wasn't any debris or such. For the rest I get it changed ever 5000 to 6000 miles.

I get free oil changes, and my dealer still wanted me in at 3000 miles.
Likely after break in, there will be metal shavings and other things you want out as quickly as possible.
