SOB! My new baby is only two weeks old and today the windshield got a foot long "L" shape crack! I washed the car in the morning and went to move it into the garage in the afternoon and when I got in I noticed the crack. Nothing has hit the car, I don't know if it was heat build, it was parked in the sun, but the day wasn't that hot. I called the dealership and I have to bring it around on Monday to take photos of it to get the paperwork started to get it repaired.:(

Did the windshield wiper get loose while cleaning the car?

Looks like a stress crack... Some of the Forte's have had issues like this before... the Dealer will replace it for free (under warranty)... reminds me of the day when I found the big ass crack on my windshield (A "rock" hit it!), still got it replaced for free even thought it wasn't a stress crack..

I washed my car at least 20 times by hand since I bought it in June 2010. I always let it sit outside in the blazing sun after I dried it off. I leave my car outside and it gets relatively cool at night, I never got a crack though. *knock on wood*

Just got off of the phone with Joe Myers Kia in Houston. My service tech, David, talked to the Kia rep in Houston and they are going to change out the windshield free of charge. It's gonna be a good day...

Same thing happened to my Aussie Forte back in Feb, it's a known fault with certain Forte's built in the later part of 2009. I had mine fixed under warranty, just talk to your dealer he should be aware of this fault.
Ditto here, had mine replaced some months ago, fault in the forte.
Once its replace however you're good to go :)
Warranty should cover it, mine did.
