the lowest compression i would say is to run 9.5 or so .. i'm a fan for running higher compression (not higher then stock) and a good ass tune.. as it'll provide a better powerband and faster spool

Timing chain!!!!!! Looks like a piece of cake to take off the passenger side motor mount. Also the long bolt from the front and rear. Just needs to be jacked up. I believe there's 6 screws that hold the timing chain cover in place. I want to Just take the easy way out and pop a pin from the chainlink like I have done on motorcycles buuuuuuut I'm going to play it safe 4 pics are up you can see the timing chain on the cams

Great info rite here guys. Kia really is smart the front support only has 8 screws 4 on each side. Now the whole headlight housing radiator Is one big plastic part that is hold down by 4 bolts damn amazing just comes rite off so there's easy access. To the motor and a lot of space. I can literally rip off the motor and slide it out forward by my self.
Dang dude, you took the whole front end of the car off (bumper & supports, radiator)...

Pretty sure there is something wrong with it. I forget what thread it was but a few days ago he stated his engine locked up and the car wouldn't start. It sounds like Kia wouldn't cover it under warranty.

Sorry about your bad luck. Fortunately, everyone can learn from your experiences..

On another note, how do you guys feel about a plastic core support? I know our cars have superior crash ratings, but how well is that thing going to hold up in a front-end collision?

The crash tests tested just that. And it got a great rating, so not sure what you are actually asking...

it will be interesting to see if anyone else who got the timing advance tune ends up having the same issue.
