Did the salesman lie to me??

When I was looking at a new forte koup, the salesman told me I would be able to add songs to my radio. The way he described it, I hook up a usb drive with music on it. I could then add 250 songs to my radio and be able to play them whenever I wanted, without having the usb drive hooked up.

Now, did the salesman lie to me about this, or was he thinking about the new UVO system??

no you can do it, but i think you need a special usb.
yes he did he lied he is a salesman after all! Lol j/k
The flash drive must be in to play the music. The head unit does not have a hard drive to store the files. So your dealer didn't know what they were talking about. A phrase from Strange Brew : "Just because I don't know what I'm talking about doesn't mean I'm lying!!":D
The USB drive has to be plugged in all the time, you can not transfer song to your radio. Unless the new UVO system has a hard drive.
the salesman I was with told me I had the smart alternator and electronic power steering, in my lx sedan
lol
yeah- the new uvo systems have a 1 gig hard drive allowing you to load music...
and my salesman kept telling me to look for the ECO light when i start to drive my SX koup 6speed a lil more greener
Yeah, I thought he was lying. Oh well not a big deal at all. I still got my ipod with all my music. Thanks for all the replys! :)
pfft just get a mini usb drive and throw on a couple thousand songs and leave it plugged in. No need to keep plugging in an ipod or having it stolen when you forget to unplug it.
I put car salesmen in the same category of lawyers, if their lips are moving they are lying. That's why I always research the vehicles I'm interested in. Plus it's fun to mess with them when you know more about the car then they do.:D

Anyways I keep a 8 gig flash drive formatted with FAT32 file system in the car and it works fine.

Yeah I was wondering about the ECOminder. I kept reading about it and i tried to turn it on like it said in the manual but it didn't work. So I've just been going off the instant fuel gauge. Do all Fortes have this feature?? Mine is a 2010 Koup SX.
yea he lied. i am a kia salesmen as well but i would not make up stuff like that. or he may just be very stupid and not know the product very well.

the ECOminder is only for the auto trans. it lets you know when you are in your best fuel efficiency. im not sure on the 2010 but i know the 2011 does have it.

Yeah, 2010's have it.
I'll tell you one thing my salesman had no idea about. The LED speakers. Never even mentioned it so for the first month and a half that I had my '11 SX I had no idea that was an option. I stumbled across the control dial one morning when looking for the hood latch.
Did the salesman lie to me

I have been researching both 10 & 11 Koups for over a year and I will buy one when a legal settlement is completed. I am also an ex car salesman from the'80-'90's and what I have found is that car salesman here in Central Florida in the I-4 area across the state from Daytona to Tampa DO NOT know their product at all. Example: I have had veteran salespeople tell me things like I could get factory leather on an '11 Koup EX or I couldn't get the SX racing style pedals on an EX. (thru parts department they are a dealer installed option $60. parts $13.00 to install) My main source for reliable info has been this forum. Many times I have thought to get back into car sales just to show these idiots how it is done right but there's no real money to be made in selling anymore.
sorry to bring this back up,

but i did a search and didn't want to make a new thread.

what exactly is dealer installed options?

for example, im getting ready to buy 2011 forte koup sx
manual
sunroof
wheel lock
cargo net

i just skimmed through this thread and someone mentioned the speaker lights are options??

so if the car includes that already, i have to pay extra for that?

i thought SX trim includes that already

thanks for anyone that can clarify this with me

i negotiate with a dealer with a price and this price also comes from the zag/consumerreports

so i just want to make sure before i go there and then see a major price increase

@ simon...I have been looking at a lot of Koups in different areas and with different build options, mainly the SX, and no matter what option I have found or chosen, they all have the speaker lights, maybe a coincidence but I doubt it. The Kia Soul has them too...so I'm pretty sure they are standard with all options ON THE SX...

The dealer installed options would be the packages, (Moon Roof, Tech. Package, Leather, etc...) These are optional, hence you can get any combination of what ever they offer. As long as the dealer lets you choose them / has a car with it installed.

hope this helps...if any of this info. is wrong, please correct me :)
