When I put the car in drive, the doors automatically lock which is great. When I put the car in park, the doors automatically unlock which is NOT great according to my wife. She would prefer that it stay locked until she decides to exit the car. In most vehicles, it stays locked or can be programmed to stay locked. Does anyone know if it can be programmed to stay locked on our Fortes or how to do it? Would I need to take it to the dealer to have them do it? Thanks.

I took mine to the dealer in order to REMOVE the auto lock. They need to hook it up to reprogram the ECU trought the OBDII port.
I don't know if they can program it to stay lock though!!

I don't think they can do that, or at least that is what I was told. Either the auto lock is on or disabled is what I was told >
At first I was told the same!!! Read your owner manual, they say it can be activate/disactivate by the dealer!!
Took me 3 visits!!!!
1- Was told there's nothing to do!
2- Tech was unable to do it
3- Anothere tech did it!

1. Hyundai owns kia: This Auto-UN-Lock is a horrible feature for those who have to live, work, or goto bad dangerous areas after dark espec... the simple answer is KIA SHOULD FIX IT with Software patch so the user can OPTIONALLY change to what the user wants. Using parking brake instead of park is not convenient and dangersous as well, and even then if you want to exit the car or let someone in you darn sure do not want the tailgate UnLocked as well, dangerous as heck, KIA should be ashamed. The Sedona EX top of line: the very rude Deland, FL dealer "service dept" says its UN-change-able (I don't believe it)? Wish I had known this Before I bought. Warn others about the terrible treatment the service depts give users when the ask about this problem (basically "Get Lost" ) 2. The deland fl service agent actually started yelling at me after I asked to talk to the manager?. 3. ON top of that the Daytona Beach KIA Financial mgr told me 10yr / 100k on a certified extended warranty and then sent it in as 2.5yr / 52.5k mi ? When I asked about it, they sent me an email saying it was indeed 10/100 but I still don't have the hardcopy he promised to mail, and he said he didn't need one back from me with my signature? And Daytona's Bch Kia "service dept" was very rude as well. If anyone knows how to solve any of this please email me at [email protected] or tweet me at @inventpeace, THANKS ! I did try the long push on the trip meter reset , but that did Not work either.
