First of all, I love my Forte' Ex. I like so many things about it that the list would go on, and on, and on. Until we were all so bored that we hung ourselves.

Now to the thing I don't like. Every time I need warp power at a stoplight, I am disappointed. 1st gear is great. Lots of power and torque. Then it shifts to 2nd. It is like going from 1st right to 4th. It loses all it's steam.

This is very frustrating. I know it has a "manumatic" gate, but I don't like to use it. I feel like I am abusing the tranny if I use it, and it still sucks in 2nd!

Has anyone else noticed this? I know it is done that way to increase fuel economy, but I thought that the "fuel economy package" handled that.(you get a 5 speed automatic instead of 4 speed automatic). I just want smooth shifts that make sense, and that make good use of the 156 horses!

Ok, I am done now!!!

the gears in an automatic forte arent gonna feel like a sports car. every automatic ive ever had looses power at the bottom end of second gear. my koup is a manual and i have good power is second depending how high i rev through first, if i shift out of first at a low rpm then second is slow for me too.. and automatics do just that, they are set to shift at low rpms.

The only sedans on the lot with a manual were the LX models, and I didn't like the LX. They gave me a screaming deal on my EX, and I knew the gearing was for fuel economy and NOT for drag racing. So I bought it! I just wish it had a shorter 2nd. That is my ONLY complaint about the car...and I can live with it.

I get a lot of people in traffic looking and liking my car. Feels pretty good to have a desirable car!!! :D

2nd gear is extraordinarily long and it's quite aggravating!
BUUUUT I'm almost 100% sure that the 2011 6 speed auto is a direct fit! So, over the next year I am going to kill my transmission to give me an excuse to get the new one. :p

...and you'd be 50% right...LoL! While the tranny will fit right in, you won't find a dealer that will install a 6 spd into a car that came with a 5 spd or 4 spd -- would be considered modifying, not replacing. Not only would you need everything like mounts and linkage you'd need to replace the transmission control module and tune the ECM to work with it. Too much in modern cars are controlled by computers so "shoe horning" in working assemblies that didn't come on the car is a thing of the past.

Yeah..I love to drive semi-fast. I also am coming out of a Grand Cherokee V8, which I gave to my mom. SO I am used to lots of torque!
