I want one

What do you need to have a setup like that ?
Nice I was hoping to do something like this eventually also. Someone else had posted a question asking if anyone had done this yet, but their post had a link to a pretty awesome looking computer interface specifically for cars that looked like it might be a little more accessible to use while in the car. I'll see if I can find it, looks awesome though.
It's awesome. Only flaw I seen it's windows. ;)
Sorry, mac is not compatible for a cool dash mount mod. hahaha.

Did you guys check out the video? how do i embed?

To do this you will need...

1. the mount kit from Korea ($155 shipped)
2. The perfect 7" monitor (for mount fit and inputs). Mine was $130 shipped
3. Laptop with VGA
4. Windows mobile phone with a/v outputs (touch pro, touch hd, touch pro 2 etc..). Or android phone with outputs such as the evo.
5. Ground loop isolators to deal with audio hum
6. various a/v cables depending on set up.
7. Keyboard/mouse solution.
8. Power inverter to connect laptop/PS3/video source
9. I have an additional input so i can add a PS3 or reverse camera

I can send you the exact stuff i got if anyone is interested. I had to pull this all together myself. I had no specs on the mount kit and size monitor that would work. I had no idea about any specifics. All i knew is i wanted it and found the perfect monitor. Had no idea if it would even work/fit. If anyone is serious about this mod feel free to ask me questions because figuring out the details sucks.

But there it is, did it myself.

Nice job just watched the video. Needs to be Android, but I wanna do something like this when a proper dash kit is available.

Proper? Meaning one that slides down?

you are over-estimating Linux and under-estimating Microsoft. I love me some Linux, but other then the AV hook up.....Linux wouldn't have made this very easy to do.

And for the mac people....

I work in DTS. Unless you make video games or do audio engineering, macs compatibility limits prevent its practical application in most scenarios.
You could have replaced your entire dash with an iPad. :) lol I'm joking and was only joking before about windows. You did a helluva job and don't wanna take anything away from the kick ass job you did.
By proper I meant in dash and not above. The touch screen will replace head unit in my design. Which will be a carputer with built in bluetooth and gps. That is the plan.
Thanks guys. I have yet to see any other car with what I have. As a computer guy, i couldn't be happier.

how do I embed the video!? any help?
1. the mount kit from Korea ($155 shipped)

Korean Auto Imports
thats pretty sick
Looks great! Thanks for being an innovator.
i like :) this will be a must have after a turbo set up
7 Inch Touchscreen LCD with VGA

If using this monitor with the Korean auto imports kit you will need to cut the bottom of the kit to reach the menu buttons when mounted.
