Dragy - Racechip numbers

I did three 1/8 mile runs a couple weeks ago just to test out the Dragy and was able to get the following numbers with a 6spd on 205/55/16 Kumho Solus all season tires. I was at level 5 on 87 octane. I had no traction for the 1st and 2nd but third was good and I got out of the gas early since I did not realize I had not finished the 1/8th mile yet.
9.52s at 76.5mph
60ft 2.42s

Today I tried again several times. But this time I tried level 5 and 7, traction on and off and had better traction with the 235/45/17 Continental dws06 1st gear was still a bust but second gear able to see some traction. I also discovered that even though if feels like it hits a rev limiter at around 6200 I was able to drive through it and stay in third gear. Here is the best I could do however. I did about ten runs and they all fell into the 9.5s-9.6s range with the 60ft at 2.4-2.6s no matter what I tried.
9.53s at 78mph
60ft 2.42s

I even did one run starting off in 2nd gear and only shifting once for 3rd gear
9.63s at 77.4mph
60ft 2.59s

My best 0-60 was 6.1s with 1ft rollout. I did get that number a few times.

I really thought I would be able to get a better 1/8 mile time than I did with the power I have, I don't think there is much I can do until I can figure out how to get traction and lower the 60ft time. I knew having an open front differential and a 6spd would make traction tough but that is the trade off I had to make to get an affordable 6spd that is fun to drive.

The next thing I did was accelerate from 30-60mph in sport mode two times with Racechip off, level 3, level, 5 and level 7. Since I did this in 3rd gear it only uses 2500-5000rpm.

The times looked like this
4.4 - off
4.3 - level 3
4.0 - level 5
4.1 - level 7

And I also did a level 5 with sport on and off
4.0 - level 5 sport on
4.1 - level 5 sport off

So the Racechip is making measurable power which makes sense. As far as 2nd gear goes, with the Racechip turned off the tires will not break loose from a roll. With level 5 on in sport the tires do break loose from a roll in 2nd gear. If I had done this test from 50-70 in third gear I expect the results would slightly favor level 7 by a tenth of a second since the rpms used would be around 4000-6000.

There is a Racechip dyno here to see how the power is delivered in each level

Of course a stickier tire will help, you can also play with swaybar preloading, it will improve launches and help remove wheel hop but causes erratic handling.

Wheel hop is not really an issue anymore with the motor mount inserts. It is really just traction, or a better driver. :)

The motor mounts made that big of a difference?

Pretty much. I don’t have the the upper trans mount insert back in yet. Just the upper engine and lower trans inserts are in. The lower trans mount I used a Whiteline in the rear spot and a yellow Powerflex in the front position so it’s stiff without the vibration. I am sure the 235 Continental tires are also a part of the equation

Can confirm, the motor mounts make a hell of a difference

100%
Only experience wheel hop when getting into it while turning from a stop. I have to remember to not hammer it until I’m almost straightened out.

I hate all you 6 speed manual stick people all showing off with your tire spin and stuff...

Even me with 147 hp! Only in the rain or with a really aggressive clutch dump though...
Interesting thing to note, since it only lets you rev it to 4k when not moving, it essentially has a built in launch control.

Ever look into seeing what it would take to install a GT rear suspension?

Yeah - basically impossible. The two cars use a different floor pan so I'd have to basically replace the whole back half of the structure

True but you DCT owners would have us beat in stop light race almost every time.

Don’t you have a DCT in your massive forte inventory?? AKA your driveway?

We have one of everything over here. My daughter wants to sell her DCT in a year or two once she starts teaching. She is planning to buy the Elantra N. She might change her mind by then but that is her plan for now.

I am going to put the Racechip on her DCT this summer for a week and see what the 1/8 time is for the fun of it. She has the AFE intake and Evilla midpipe as well.

My daughter wanted to see what her 2021 GT w/dct could do. Her car has AFE intake and Evilla midpipe. We tried a few different things but the results were identical for all. We did sport with and without traction control and we did smart mode. All of them came back with the same results within a couple hundredths of a second.

I took one run today and improved my time. Racechip at level 7 no traction control
0-60 in 6.0s
60ft 2.3s
1/8 mile in 9.4s at 79mph

I made this run after removing the Evilla midpipe, GFB Mach2 bov, Pierburg bov solenoid and increasing the gap on the plugs to .032 (they were at .028)
So the only upgrades now are AFE closed intake and Racechip GTS

I did also make one run with the Racechip turned off and no traction control
0-60 in 6.4s
60ft 2.4s
1/8 mile in 9.6 at 76mph

If traction is a problem air down the tires some and give it a try
