To turn the ECO light on or off in my SXs I have to scroll to the ECO indicator screen and then hold the button down for a sec.

See if I can remember all the screens:
Water temp,
trip A
trip B
mileage till empty
MPG
Hours/minutes
ECO Indicator

Can you copy the wording of your owner's manual on setting the ECO indicator?

You can turn the ECO indicator on/off on
the instrument cluster in this mode.
If you push the TRIP button more than 1
second in the ECO ON mode, ECO OFF
is displayed in the screen and the ECO
indicator turns off.
If you want to display the ECO indicator
again, press the TRIP button more than 1
second in the ECO OFF mode and then
ECO ON mode is displayed in the display.
For more detailed explanations, refer to
"Warnings and indicators" in section 4.

Press the TRIP button for less than 1 second
to select each function as follows :
Also, the ECO indicator ON/OFF mode
can be selected by pressing the trip button
for less than 1 second.

Tripmeter B
Average fuel consumption*
Instant fuel consumption*
Average speed*
Driving time*
Tripmeter A
Distance to empty*

This was discussed on kiaforums & on SX 2.4l you Can not turn it off.

Are there SX owners with newer SX that can turn it off?

When you turn your key on there is momentary display on your instrument cluster and all the lights come on for a second it is called a bulb check. Do you see the green ECO light?

If I cycle my in-dash screen to ECO indicator I can hold the trip button down and it displays "OFF" (Koup SX w A/T). I will have to go out to the sedan SX and see if it does the same...

I can turn mine off... pretty simple controls, works the same about every display option, cycle to it with the trip buton. then hold the trip button down until it turns off or on, same as resetting your tripometer, or the avg mpg. you can also turn it off by using the manumatic shifter.

I have an August 2009 production date SX sedan and can turn the ECO light on or off by holding down the button.

Here's another oddity--

When I refill my fuel tank, the AVG MPG resets itself automatically. I wonder how (and why) the car does this? What if you wanted an overall average MPG for several tanks? This is impossible when it resets itself each fill up.

Anyone notice that the ECO light doesn't turn until the car properly warms up?

It's winter here and I have a Forte EX. THe ECO light doesn't light up until I've drive for a few miles.
