Eibach 22mm Rear Sway Bar

In my opinion Eibach makes the best suspension products for people that want everything to feel like they installed a factory upgrade. The rear sway bar for the 2019-2021 Veloster turbo fits perfect to replace the 17mm rear sway bar that comes stock on the 2019-2023 Forte GT.

The install is not terrible but it helps to pay close attention to how you take the oem bar out since the new one will only go back in one way if you install the endlinks before hand. I did this to make sure they are tight. I would take the old bar out with the endlinks still attached and then fight with the nuts on the endlinks later. I found that hitting the endlink nuts with an impact to break them loose works good. I feel the factory endlinks are strong enough for this bar and will last longer than Whiteline. When you install the new sway bar you might need to jack the lower control arms up one at a time to get the bolts into the rear subframe for the sway bar brackets.

The 22mm bar seems like the perfect upgrade for this chassis, the stock 17mm was too small and you could feel the car leaning too much, basically like it was an effort to turn. The 22mm bar wakes things up and keeps things more lively. There is a very slight bit more impact felt from the rear suspension but it is almost imperceptible. Nobody would ever know but you. Sometimes a larger rear sway bar can be a handful in the winter or in the rain (the back end can get loose). I don't expect the rain to be an issue with this setup. I will have to wait for next winter to decide if I need to run the 17mm bar for snow however.

If you like a great handling car this should be first before lowering springs. One other big plus to the larger rear sway bar is traction. With the stock rear sway bar the car leans too much and the inside front tire breaks loose far too easy under acceleration. The larger rear bar keeps the chassis flat and allows more power to be delivered to the inside front tire before it starts to break loose.

When you are on the freeway and wiggle the steering wheel side to side does your car feel like the rear tires are under inflated?

I have not been on the highway yet, just the on and off ramps. :)
Temp went up to 60 today and got real humid. Not sure if it was related but Eibach rear sway bar bushings got real noisy when the bar tried to twist inside of them. I took the bushings out and cleaned the Eibach supplied grease off them. I then used an acid brush to coat every surface the rubber bushings touch with Superlube Multi Purpose 41160. I will update in a week with how they sound.
Amazon.com: Super Lube 41160 Synthetic Grease (NLGI 2), 14.1 oz Canister, Translucent White : Automotive
So far the Superlube is working perfect, the rear swaybar bushings are not making any noise at all.

I would say that Superlube is the trick for quiet sway bar bushings. I don't know why Eibach would supply grease that does not work. The noise the Eibach supplied grease made was terrible. I was ready to put the stock bar back on it was so bad.

Now that there is no noise from the Eibach rear sway bar I can say that I love it. The stock rear sway bar feels like the car is saying "Do we really need to turn, I don't really feel like it." Now taking corners feel natural and not a burden to the chassis.

When I run urethane I spin a wire wheel through the bushing to scratch it up a tad.. little molly lube and it’s good for 20k.
Also if the urethane is super cheap or has a creative eBay name then it’s most likely counterfeit.. here is my experience with an eBay urethane bump stop .....

That looks like the same thing the legendary Super Ball is made of.
2023BD - Can you post a picture of how the Eibach sway bar looks from under the rear of the car? Can you see it at all by just looking at the rear of the car?

TIA!

You can not see the rear sway bar at all since it is hidden behind the muffler

That's kind of disappointing. Would have liked the red sway bar for eye-appeal...:)
