I have a question, I just bought a 2014 Kia Forte EX with 59800 miles it run great, I have had it a week now and the car ran a scan while i was driving and gave me a check engine light and it said"Engine Control System" Possible engine issue. It runs normal gas mileage is fine. I did just fill up with gas yesterday so when I got to work I reset the gas cap. Yesterday I did notice a slight rough idle. Can it be It just needs a tune up??? I don't have any warranty and it has me scared to death!!!

Get a bottle of Techron Fuel System Cleaner and put it in your tank the next time you fill up. You might have a little water or some some other contaminate in the gas and that'll help clean it out. Techron is the only brand I use on my cars and I've NEVER had a fuel related problem with any of my cars in the past 20 years. I alternate the Fuel System Cleaner and Fuel Injector Cleaner every other oil change.

Thanks for everyone's help. I really appreciate the help!!

I stopped at an Auto-zone and had them scan the car and these were the codes that were found:

P0266 - Cylinder 2 Contribution/Balance
C1513 - Break Light Switch Implausible

P0266 - So I did add Fuel System Cleaner and after a week of driving the light was still on. I decided to give the car a good hard run on the way to work. I took it up to about 90mph and when I got to work the light was off. It still runs a little rough at startup but clears up after few min. I will an Injection cleaner next.

C1513 - I'm not exactly sure what they mean by "Implausible" for a switch!

Wow thanks!!! Everyone has been extremely helpful!! This really helps. I have to say I really hated driving lately and since I got the Forte I really enjoy driving again yes its not a 4.0 Jeep I still love driving it! I can only image how the 2021 drives! I would like to update the map on the GPS but Kia is not updating 2014's anymore.
Auto forums are the BEST places for help!!
I added a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner today and then filled up the tank. I was off for vaca and return to work tomorrow so I will run the car more than while I was off!
The injector was one of the possible issues that Auto-zone said it could be. I will give the Techron a chance.
I seen the price for the 60k service from the dealer is $1k. I can do this for way less myself or with the shop I normally go to right?

Yes you can certainly do the 60K service yourself. Use the owners manual (actually the smaller owners manual with the maintenance requirements list) to accomplish all checks. The only time I would recommend having the dealer do it would be to insure warranty coverage.
