Me and some buddies from work are going to the track next wednesday. anybody else gone? I was hoping to see a common forum for sedans/koup so we could compile all times down. 2.0/2.4 and mt/at.

I have no idea what my 100% stock 2.0 5sp should run so I guess i'll find out :)

I think I may be going to the track sometime soon so I'll let you know how I do.
Was able to do 4 runs until it got very busy and I didn't feel like sitting in a long lineup plus was getting hungry. Out of my 3 good runs and I won't count the first run since I forgot to turn off the TCS...
This is my best out of 3:
R/T .960 (I know it is slow I was was caught asleep at the wheel)
60' 2.491
330' 6.942
1/8 10.613
MPH 66.42
1000' 13.805
1/4 16.479
MPH 85.08

This is a stock 2.0L EX Koup 5 M/T with the TurboKits CAI
I really wanna take a few runs at the track but I want to master launching it first
lol
and I dont have the money

what is the difference in curb weight between the koup and sedan?

i am very impressed the car trapped in the mid 80s. I was thinking 78-79 mph trap. I'll keep everyone updated.
they are around 9 lbs lighter than a Koup in the same model.

lbs.
______Sedan Koup
Auto EX 2740 2749
____SX 2868 2875
Man EX 2707 2716
____SX 2853 2859
i ran a 14.1 with a 7 second 60 ft on street tires @ 121
Junk tires and junk driver....<-------
I need the driver mod BAD. Your 60ft is great. How many times to the track?
This was my first time to the track after 15 years...
First run it wheel hopped like mad until a Kia tech came over after and told me to turn off the TCS :) I was too nervous first time to notice I had forgotten to turn it back off after shutting car off during wait. Stupid auto TCS on start...
You can fill your factory mounts will a compound that will REALLY reduce wheelhop. And it won't void your warranty!! For info, pm me.. I would think tcs would help... guess not.
silicone is not as hard as this stuff. It might be window weld, even though i have never heard it called such. lol. Sounds like an emo band.
dojaman, your 14.1 quarter mile was with your SRT, not a Forte. Correct?

If a stock forte could trap 120, ill take two. :)

Yes sir.
I did however over rev the crap out of it (forte) when i started in 1st. I own 2 Man trans, both with aftermarket clutches and flexplates and i still rev'd it up. I can see how launching that could be a task. I imagine this thing with power being about as useless in first as every turbo car i have owned.
I LOVE the 2.4. ITs Just begging for boost......i can't wait............
track isn't doing wed night this month, so it is rescheduled for this friday.
just got back

got 3 runs in, trying different launching techniques. I still believe i can get a better 60'. Each run got better than the one before.

Car is 100% stock, my fatass is 210 lbs, 90 degree florida heat

#1:
60' - 2.634
1/8 - 11.156 @ 64.23
1/4 - 17.197 @ 82.35

#2
60' - 2.444
1/8 - 10.833 @ 64.84
1/4 - 16.821 @ 83.14

#3
60' - 2.339
1/8 - 10.723 @ 64.87
1/4 - 16.700 @ 83.22

Will try again in a few weeks with lower front tire pressure and maybe an intake and more driver mod :)

I did with my friend and I on board a lill

15,8 87mph was my best so this car have SOME CRAPPY ENGINE MOUNTS its was a wheel hop party time !!! I wasn't able to drop the clutch a lot faster cause of the crappy motor mounts causing it so I was expecting a little bit better time for the koup sx but its ok its my daily drive car anyway !

I beat an rsx-s and a civic si cause he miss the 2nd hehe and wasnt too much away from a ...shelby gt lol well its dosent look THAT far away from me at this time lol
I took my Koup SX 2.4 6spd out yesterday to establish a baseline for it as bone stock, with approximately 950 km on it.

The car weighed 1390 kg (3064 lbs) with me in it, and 7/8ths of a tank of fuel.

60 ft in 2.25 seconds
0-60mph in 7.63 seconds
1/8 mile in 10.08 @ 69.1 mph
1/4 mile in 15.65 @ 89.3 mph
169 hp to the wheels
I'm trying to decide if I want to do some 1/8 runs at the school drag day this month, never ran on a track in my life lol so I'm thinking it'll be time to get embarrassed=]
I'm being optimistic and hoping for something in the 10's, still on stock tires lol
friend's stock cobalts ss sc ran like a 10.5 completely stock including tires, shitty 60 ft but trapped at a bit over 90 lol

If you plan on lowering tire pressure in street tires, please do not go any lower than 24 psi. I've done over 300 1/4 mile passes, and in all my street tire passes I've never seen an improvement below 26 psi.

You should be able to get a 2.1 60', which would lower your 1/4 ET by 2-3 tenths. You will also see some improvement with power shifting, although I do not recommend it as I have blown quite a few trannies with that method.
