awesome! keep us updated when the final installed is in the car...
ditto....and let us know if you can still use the steering wheel controls. Personally i wouldn't touch an after-market cd/dvd player if i didn't get to keep my wheel controls, it's one of my favorite features of the car
What brand / make / model did you go with? Can't tell from the photos
holy crap!!! its almost the same size as the toaster oven LMAO thats awesome! :D
and the moment ya all been waiting for check the first post
Sticks out quite a bit huh? Can you get it to fit flush with the dash so it looks factory or is there enough room in the dash?
i think (could be wrong) that it sticks out like that because of the motorized front plate...
but it is sweet looking nontheless--- i am looking for one that has a knob for the volume control-- even with the steering controls- i am soooo old school on adjusting the volume... lol

did you get the optional steering wheel controller also?
(and the toaster oven bit--- i was thinking- damn- he could skip the radio and put the toaster oven in-- have a lil hot snack for long drives)
@MFury = i could adjust it back more but it would be real tight fit for the screen to go up and down but like that its also easier for me to cover it ...

@tampajoey = no the steering wheel controller on that one didnt work and i didnt feel like spending more money just to add it ... some time in the future tho i will
yay! i was half right on the sticking out bit-
and fabzzie- i noticed in picture http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb77/Fabzzie/IMG_20101012_093626.jpg

that it lists the C-bus connecter as an option for steering wheel control-

i should have been more clear- ....
you bought that C-bus and its not working- or you didnt buy it ?

based on that list of specs- i would have assumed that the steering wheel connector was not included nor ever part of the base system....and same thing with the bluetooth and some of the other things toward the bottom of the list marked optional....

of course- now- all we are waiting for is the full video showing off the gizmo in action :) you know- the gps- the rearview- touchscreen, motorized screen, switching from ap to ap......not only do we love cars here- we love tech toys :)
That's awesome, got my fascia plate coming in the mail this week. Think I ordered the same one you did. I do have one question though, have you noticed any strain on the fascie/dash from the DVD unit being to heavy or is the bracing kit pretty solid and bolted to the frame? Hopefully I get it this week then it will be in this weekend. I've already run all the wiring and replaced all the stock speaker, sub, amp etc. Just waitng for the face plate. I'm getting the box to keep my steering wheel controls though, love that feature. I'm still undecided about GPS and Sirius, gonna have to look and see if I find any deals for the extra hardware.
Thats cool, I like my stereo too much to swap it out though.

Btw - My carputer has a dual layer dvd burner, cant tell you that you have the first.

well i got the steering wheel control to work just need to take the dash apart again and plug it in and it does come with it at first i was just in a rush to add it so i kinda didnt check all the features ... but it has is own memory for the keys and all of that anyways ... gps i have my phone with it so no need for that prob going to hook up a wire to it and to my phone with time it ...

the bluetooth comes with it and everything else besides the gps

ill post up a video tomorrow when i wash the car up :D
just one thing for everyone that does buy this kit plz buy ur self some heavy duty glue or your alert light key will not be in place theres no proper mounting for it i had to put a screw and some little brackets to make it stick + the glue the rest fits like a glove ... and also the factory brackets hold the aftermarket radio in place so no strain or anything else in that matter ... also the wiring pattern is here for anyone thats curious about it http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb77/Fabzzie/stdbe0050n.gif
I would so want to do this to my koup but im on a budget and I wouldnt know where to go and get this put in I dont trust myself with this kind of stuff.
Any updates?
Nice , looks like a fun project with great results. Look good!
