Hey all, hope you all doing great.
I noticed that the forum does not contain a section for the 1.6L engine or was I wrong?
Anyway, there's a website that provides a way to get the best acceleration out of your car by shifting at the right time.
When to shift
But it requires both "Gear ratios of all your gears, and a chart of your torque curve"
So, how can I get those two for my 1.6L engine to calculate the best time and RPMs to shift.

The best time to shift regardless of those two will always be just before redline. Engineers design the redline not only for safety, but also because if you shift any later you will only be slower.

I don't think sarcastic replies are necessary here, as the OP was asking a serious question.

I do, however, disagree about the redline theory. Redlines are the maximum speed that the engine can be operated safely. Exceed this, and you can encounter valve-float and other timing-related issues (damaged pistons, etc) detrimental to your engine operation. Engineers create these limitations, by the parts chosen in the engine construction (part selection has a lot of variables).

Now for the power question. Yes, there are advantageous times to shift (not immediately before the redline). If you look at dyno sheets, most engines hit their peak power, then begin to taper off. You need to be somewhere in or slightly past those peak ranges (probably a little late, as that will allow your engine to decel. and still be near peak power). A torque curve and gear ranges would definitely help. Unfortunately, I don't know where to get either for your car.

These are just my theories though.. I'm not a racer or an engineer.

Well ryude, I used to think the same just like you but seems there's a better time to shift.
