2 door Koup SX that I drive like I stole it while on fire and even in DC traffic (yay for being the number 1 WORST traffic in the nation), I typically average better then that.

I have gotten in down to the average MPG saying 6.2 but that was with a few HOURS of almost idling.

I again tested and verified that I get better MPG using higher grade fuel. Currently running an almost full tank of 97 and Im averaging about 24mpg. Regular averages about 19 to 20.

How broken in is your car? Mine has less than 1000 miles and it seems to suck up gas like crazy, though it seems better with each fill up (yep all 3 of them).

I had them detail my car last week and they must of left it on with the heat blasting :( so this tank will probably be poor.

I have a 2.4 A/T SX
I get 35mpg on straight hwy/interstate driving, about 20mpg city. Combined 30MPG.

3 months and 3000km (1860 miles). Horrible consumption. Maybe not broken in yet? I just hope it is the winter and that as soon as temperature go over 0 celsius, I will get better results.

WE SHOULD PROBABLY ASK: HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO GET GOOD CONSUMPTION?

When I used to do highway driving 5 days a week to commute to and from work I would average about 29-30 mpg in the Forte. I have an EX auto 4spd. I can live with those numbers since I used to average about 32 mpg or so for the same commute in a Toyota Corolla - a smaller car with a smaller engine. I will say that the city fuel consumption in the Forte is much, much worse than the Corolla. I did not notice any major change in mileage after the break-in period. Your results may vary of course.

Forgot to add that my dealer also uses a heavier weight engine oil than the factory oil because of my Canadian winter climate and very hot summers which the heavier oil is more suited for. The manual does say that this can negatively affect the mileage although I cannot really confirm by how much. Also, make sure your tires are properly inflated to recommended pressures. A tire that is under inflated by even a few psi will have a noticeable effect on your fuel consumption.

I just did the "factory SRI" mod at 13000km and even driving like a bat outta hell i have only gotten as low as 12.3L/100km @ 90/10 city/highway. The best I have gotten since the mod was about 8.5L/100km 50/50 city/highway. Pre-mod I was doing 10.5worst/9.0best city driving and 8.5worst/6.2best highway.

Keep in mind that winter gas is different from summer gas and cold air is more dense so more fuel is required to achieve desired fuel ratios.

That said, I have a really hard time taming my foot now that it sounds so good. I have noticed that when under strict supervision (wife in passenger seat) my instant economy runs down around 4-6L/100km on the highway... but even supervision cant avoid the "need" to pass a car or two.

I also notice that I get my best fuel economy on either ESSO(89 oct) or Petro Canada(91 oct) fuels.

Sorry about the ramble. My friends are sick of hearing me talk about my car so I tend to have a lot to say when I get the opportunity...

Seriously 4-6 on the highway at 100? My best was 6.9L @ 100kms Its usually 7.2.

Im averaging 13L/100kms, and I rarely put my foot down. Very disappointed. I would race my honda all day and still get better fuel economy
The average on my Forte's meter today is 11.6 L/100 km.

I had a 3.2TL before.. 3.2L V6 modded to around 275hp.. I'd get around 13.5 L/100 km in winter, but atleast it would move.

The Forte sucks up quite a lot of gas and is slow as balls...

Gunning it from light to light and getting stuck in TO traffic I get at worse 12L/100KM. I love the sound of my exhaust and getting shoved back in my seat. The problem is actually keeping wheel spin and hop to a minimal.

If I drive it like a elderly asian lady in a Beige Corolla I can get 10L/100KM. Gotta keep those revs under 2K. So around 21MPG

The above is pure city driving.

If I do a good 50/50 mix I can get 8L/100KM. 29MPG

On a roadtrip to Algonquin park I got 750KM on a tank which works out to about 34MPG or 6.9L/100KM.

OP where abouts in T.O. are you? Maybe we can grab a coffee together.

Keep in mind the 2010 SX Auto is rated at 21/32 City/Hwy by the EPA so I'm pretty happy that I get close to the ratings in the city and beat the HWY ones. I'm sure I'd get 21MPG if the car actually got the chance to move in city traffic.

what i think about my 2010 forte

I have a 2010 kia forte 5speed automatic and i think it sucks!!! My gas mileage is really bad, totally not what it said it would do or come close. I have a huge jerk when it goes from 2nd to 3rd gear. Sometimes when i go to take off it just acts like i punched it. The jerk and the punching it thing really scares me cause if a car was close to me i would rear-end them. The style and ride is great but i am totally not satisfied. When we test drove the car we never felt any of this. The dealership is a little bit away so when its time for my oil change i am gonna get this looked into but i know on kia forums there are several people that are complaining about the jerk and no one has an answer even dealerships.
