Good News - We found that 16-20 PSI is the limit of our 2.4L Kia motor. The car felt great while running the higher boost level on the street, but we recently heard something when starting the motor and believe it to be slight rod knock. Assuming that the bearings aren’t going to last much longer, we put a set on order with KIA and will break the motor down for inspection before going any further. IMPORTANT!!! If you think you hear rod knock, get the bearings swapped ASAP! If you catch it early enough, you can typically just swap out the bearings and be back up and running. If you wait too long, you can score the crank or rods or completely spin the bearing and trash your whole block. Now this isn't an open invitation to run your Forte at 16PSI. We are just reporting our findings as we push the limits.

Bad News - we won't make it to the meet this weekend as planned. Crock will be there so you guys can check out the kit first hand!

Once again, TurboKits.com does the dirty work so you all don't have to. We'll get the bearings swapped and get onto the DYNO and push the boost up again and see where we go for power!

What was the HP rating at 16PSI?
We were playing with it on the street at first, we were going to put it on the DYNO when we heard the potential knock. So we are looking into that before we do more higher boost testing...

What was the HP rating at 16PSI?
:'(

you guys not going because of potential knock or other reasons?

that being said you guys are crazy.. based on the turbo you had with your kit you guys should've been pushing easy 350+ whp lol
16 psi, that's pretty good,if i have one ,the maximum i will be running it will be 10 psi.
Yeah, we'll run 16PSI because we are just looking for the limits, for most users I wouldn't push it.

By the way, compression was still 175 across the board! So the ring lands seem to be able to take it!

are you considering making stronger internals to allow us to run higher boost?
In due time, in order to get the price where it needs to be we need to make them in quantity. If we had 10 people ready for a set of Pistons, Rings & Rods we could easily pull the trigger on getting them made. We already have the preliminary work done :)

Count me in as 1 of the 10!!!! Lol
"will internal mods void my warranty?" Lmfao that was a joke btw. But you know sooner or later some clown is gonna ask it again! lol

No. It's mostly the turbo that is installed along side them that does it. lol

Also a joke. ;]
2 out of 10 here
hmm the fact that it's 175 across the board still is interesting. i'd be shocked if you were getting rod knock but not killing the rings lol but you guys knjhow more then i do lol
have yall figured out yet whether or not this kit will function properly on the 2.0L AT engine?
Not as it sits, the AT is going to require a different approach for the piping. We just heard back from one of the testers about it. We are going to get an AT in to our shop shortly and see what we need to change.

sweet. as long as it's a possibility. :) :)
Oh yeah, we are confident that we will eventually have a kit for every Forte model :)

This might seem as a dumb question never had a turbo on a car before... Having a turbo like the one your offering will it still be normal if I were to use the car as daily use or will it only be recommend to drive it once in a while?

i dd my car thats got a turbo on it and came NA long as you're not pushing the envelope and beating the hell out of it 24/7 you should be ok

(ie dont be pushing 15 psi a and racing everyday repetitively and expect shit to be peacy lol )
So at 6-7PSI you had 300HP at the wheels. Close to 350HP at the Flywheel.

At 16PSI would it be safe to say you were over 400HP at the wheels? Or close to an stock LS1 at the flywheel? at half the weight?

Did you have any water or meth injection at this time?
