Does anyone know if the 2.4 has a governor on it? I'm assuming it does... If so, anyone know what it's set at?

It is speed controlled and not by a "Governor" -- it is programmed into the engine control module...I forget what the limit is though...

My old ranger with a 4.0 cut off at 110 mph. It scared this sh*t out of me when I hit it, the engine just shut off and I thought I blew the thing up. As soon as I got below 105 or so it came right back on.
You will know it if you get to the speed it is set at.

The rev limiter on my 2nd Tib (2.7 v6 6 speed) was set at 6800 rpm , bounced off it more than a few times . You can't get by it without reflashing the ECU . If it could pull 6800 in 6th gear that would be over 150 mph , at 70 mph it was right at 3100 rpm .

Hyundai ECU's start pulling fuel and timing around 6000 rpm to limit hp so they are aero limited for top speed , no need for a hard shutoff .

I assume Kia does the same , a rev limiter but no speed governor .

wat i do know is i hit 127mph on my 2.4 forte and got to paranoid and hit the brakes

That's 150 mph , not sure i'd want to be going 150 mph in a Forte .

Well according to one car magazine I just looked at (I think Car and Driver), the top speed is limited to 127MPH. Which, in all honesty, I can't imagine reaching anyway. But I think that answers my question. Unless anyone else out there has passed that... Yikes!

in my latest car and driver mag, they did a short test on a koupSX. they said top speed was governed at 132mph. previously they said that an SX sedan was set at 127mph. not sure which one is correct
