Greetings, I am an owner of a Forte5 that I bought in 2013, and a brandie-new Kia... a 2023 Forte GT Manual 1.6T.

I had learned on a 5-speed 1980 Honda Civic, and passed my road test in it, and then proceeded to not drive a manual for about 35 years. So of course, when it was time to buy a new car, I ran out and bought a stick. Turns out, riding a bicycle is a lot like driving a clutch... you never forget!

Anyway, I'm very happy with almost everything, especially when considering how cheap this thing was with all its crazy amenities. Highly recommend it to anyone wanted to "row their own gearbox."

Welcome to forteforums.

Post pics of both of your Fortes when you get a chance.

Funny thing about muscle memory...you never forget riding a bike and "rowing gears"...but I guarantee if you haven't roller skated in 35 years you won't be able to just put on a pair of roller skates without bruising your derriere...:)

Hello! This summer I went to a restaurant, and took my Forte to the Valet parking. And there was this guy who was about to jump in the car when he suddenly realized the car was "manual". His face was like "Oh, oh...! This car is not for me" - and he asked another employee to drive my car out. Well, the other guy was also surprised to see my car had manual transmission. 😄

Welcome to the family! I got a 2017 Forte5 and 2023 GT this year also. Love them both! The lack of power seats on the GT is a real sticking point I can't let go though.

Still, getting a 2nd GT when I run the hatchback into the dirt is very likely. It's such a joy to drive, it's so smooth.

I ended up buying a 2023 Forte GT 6M after reading a list online of new cars that still offered manual transmission, when I was looking for a new one. I learned on a 1982 Honda Accord and mostly had manual transmission cars until a few years ago. I wanted to go back to a manual and was dismayed that there are so few left. Most are either low-end base models or expensive luxury cars, like BMW's and Audis. My last manual was a 2015 Civic Si, but since I swore off buying Hondas after buying a lemon 2018 Honda CRV (severe oil dilution, no heat because of the 'service update' to fix the dilution issue, and constantly failing safety systems), a new Civic Si was out of the questiion. Besides, the new Hondas are ugly AF.
The Forte GT 6M caught my eye and then the search was on to find one. There were only two in my area. One was black, the other Gravity Grey. I picked the Gray one because the black accents, grill, mirrors, spoiler, etc. looked great but disappeared on the black one.
It's a great looking car and a blast to drive. And it was so inexpensive, my car payment went down $100/mo. Couldn't be happier.

LOL, for the first sentence, I thought I was reading something I wrote! Congratulations on the GT 6-speed. Enjoy it!
