Has anyone had any issues with the hood release latch? The lever seems to have become disconnected or the cable snapped, Ill take it in tomorrow and see what they say.

It can pop out right behind the lever, under the dash. Just slides to the side and clips in... maybe check that and see if you can save yourself a trip. Otherwise it may have come out of a clip along the way (generally right by the driver's headlight) - very popular on Souls and that'll require a bit more work to fix - I usually end up pulling the driver's inner fender cover and go in from there.

This is discussed in latest KIA Tech Times. As it has been found on new Sorento's prior to 01/20/2010.

hood latch release cable to not be fully seated in the bracket located above the driver side headlamp or at the latch assembly.

1. Remove the hood release lever, the left door sill garnish and the left kick panel. Slide the kick panel rearward during removal to prevent damage to the retaining clips.
2. Use a large pair of pliers to firmly hold the barrel end of the hood release cable and pull on the cable until the hood latch releases the hood striker.
3. Check all three hood release cable bracket areas at the area above the driver side headlamp and at the latch and re-secure the cable as needed.
4. Reinstall the left side kick panel and hood release lever in the reverse order of removal. Reinstall the kick panel by applying pressure while sliding panel forward. Verify proper operation of the hood release from inside the vehicle.
