Hi folks,

Curious what mpg other are getting. Have a 2011 Kia Forte Ex with Eco mode.
The 13.7gallon fuel capacity gets me just over 400km in the city, and around 700km on the highway.
My daily commute is under 10km which may be the biggest drag on performance.
Should I be concerned?

You're getting ~19 MPG in town and ~31 MPG highway. Is your "in town" driving a lot of stoplights?
What should you be concerned with?

Yeah it is. Just a general concern that 19mpg is quite low for the year and model, though I may be wrong.

I have a P0011 code that points to camshaft timing issue (doesn’t trigger engine light) which has me a little paranoid.

19 may be low, however, it really depends on the driving situation. Lots of stoplights, heavy stop-and-go traffic, long idle times, etc. WILL reduce mileage considerably.

How many miles on car? It is an 11-12 year old car! When were the spark plugs last changed? Might want to look into replacing the oil control valve:

150’000km on it now.

Will definitely look into that oil control valve as it does occasionally sound like it’s running dry. Spark plugs are fine but battery needs replacing. Thanks for your help.

Look at the easy stuff first. Tires properly inflated. Air and fuel filters good. No extra weight in car. Good alignment. Using good gas with not too much ethanol.
Yes will do Randy. Will check all of above this week and check back in.

Have ordered the VVT solenoid too, so will fit that when it arrives. I regularly use 87 Octane gas - 10% ethanol, would you advise 89 Octane?

Would you agree that P0011 code is most likely attributed to solenoid?

Thanks again folks!

Without being able to physically diagnose your car all we can do is offer "best-guess" advice.
