Hi,
I have my forte ex for 2 months now, and I'm happy with it. But I have one little issue I can't seem to get around...
My radio keeps going back on cd when my iTouch is playing. It happens every 5 mins or so. The message ''comm. error'' shows on, then it switch back on cd or radio by itself. I then have to push back the mode button on the steering wheel... for 5 more minutes.
I'm using the dealer's iPod cable. I doesn't do that with a usb key. I thihk it's my Ipod, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced something like that...
Thanks for your advices...

Did you do a restore on your iPod? And is it jailbrken?

nope, its not jailbroken, and it's the latest update
Do you have a case around your iPod?

How often do you shut down and restart your iPod?

Sorry for the delay...
Yes I have a case, but I tryed with and without it and it's the same.
I'm not restarting often, considering that it's already plugged in, but I have tryed yesterday to do a clean start (unpluging it, restarting it and pluging it back in), and it's still reseting after 5 min ...

I meant trying a "restore" not a "restart".

Plug it into iTunes and hit the restore button and resync your audio files and see if that's works.

That usually solves most issues
Did you fix your problem?? well I have a similar one...everytime I hit the Random button it crashes! and the "Comm Error" appears and then it switches itself to Radio...what could this be? I'm using my Original Kia Ipod cable from the dealer and everything else seems to work just fine but this is annoying, another thing, it is only when I hit the random button while on the SONGS>ALL directory of my Ipod Touch 2g, I have like 4000 songs, could this be the problem? I mean maybe the radio can't support so many files....HELP PLEASE!
I've had both these problems... however I never thought that my case could have been causing it, which is extremely plausible.

If you hit random right when the iPod is going to change songs you will get the 'Comm. Error' 60% of the time, every time ;). But really you will get the error all the time. I assume this is becasue you're asking the iPod to do two operations at the same time, which doesn't sit well with the iPod.

Press random on it during the middle of a song, that should get rid of your problem.

As for the 'Comm. Error' every 5 minutes, that happened to me after I updated to iOS 4. I dealt with it for quite some time, but then it started to get worse to the point where it would not even connect to my iPod Touch 2nd gen anymore. Now I use my girlfriend's iPod Touch 1st gen which does not support iOS 4 and I don't have the problem anymore.

Perhaps KIA has an update for the firmware/software of the iPod dock in the car, worth asking your dealer. Or even ask them to reset it, I know they can do that.

Hey man! thank you that is a nice answer! well today I was trying and trying and I realized that if I don't hit the RDM button when I connect the ipod but I wait for a couple of minutes It will not crash...later that didn't work either so...then I could get the RDM working by hittin' the button and then inmediately hitting the MENU button and it workes for a couple of times! so I will keep trying to find a way to do it that way to see if that's a viable option! thanks man I appreciate your answer!
then I could get the RDM working by hittin' the button and then inmediately hitting the MENU button:cool:
If anyone experiences this problem, that is the only way to do it!! It works everytime :D
