Welcome Aidensgrand to the Koup Crease Klub!

From Noodile: "I don't understand why people hate it so much. I feel as if my car is shivering when it's cold Just remember science class"

It's because when you get all the creases it detracts from the appearance of the car...and makes it look like you took it through a demolition derby...LoL!

...and for owners of leased Koups -- make sure to have the dealer's service department document the creases -- might save you a headache when you turn the car in at the end of the lease. It's possible the dealer will attempt to charge you for damages!

Don't waste your breath. I think Jordan's nuts for pushing the issue too. My creases started a few weeks ago, they come and go. Your better bet is to let it settle for 3-4 years and after a few Texas summers ruin the paint then have burton bodywork and repaint it with better paint.

What do you guys mean by "creases"? I just bought mine like 3 weeks ago brand new, and I haven't noticed any creases. I am pretty anal about how I keep my ride too.

Can you tell me more about this? Thanks

Its been an issue on 2010 model. When the weather gets cold the body of the car distorts like in the video. The only way you can see it is if you get at an angle like in the video. 2011 models haven't had issues yet

As long as it keeps goin away when it gets warm I'm ok with it....can't really notice unless you are looking pretty hard on mine. I do understand that some koups have worse crease problems than others though.

a door ding that comes and goes.

so get this. got an update:

I went to two dealers yesterday morning. the service manager at the first dealer said he hadn't heard of the crease before but was surprised when i showed him mine. but really got nowhere.

the second dealer i went to tried to give me the run around. i wont say which one, but the guy there told me its a door support that is contracting when the weather is colder and that its normal and all cars do this but most owners dont notice it because they dont pay attention to detail and the reason i found it is because i do pay attention...

i told him that ive owned 2 other cars and neither of them did this and my detail attention skills havent changed since i bought my mazda6 a while back. then i explained that i wasnt an idiot and was extremely familiar with science and and what happens when cold weather affects certain solids but what i was more interested in was how it would get fixed. also, i made it clear that i didnt appreciate him trying to give me the run around by telling me all cars have it and that instead of working on cars, he should be a politician because of his attempt to take me out for a ride around "bullshit blvd". keep in mind that not only were 2 other techs standing right there looking at my car but the general manager was there as well. ALSO, note that another member here has gone to this dealer before with the same problem on a couple of occasions, so im not the first at this dealer.

so my next step was to call kia corporate, which i did when i got home. to my disbelief, kia corporate has received 0 complaints regarding the body crease issue that is on probably all of the 2010 forte models. now this is weird because i know of one person who has called and brought the issue up just as i was doing, but, nevertheless, i was told that there is no record of a complaint being made. im apparently the first United States citizen to call. well she tells me she would call the dealership and see if she can gather information regarding my visits there and call me back the following day with what she gathered.

so i get a call today and both the dealers that i had mentioned denied anybody coming to their lot regarding the crease issue. so not only am i getting fed crap about the problem from a dealer, but now im being told that i wasnt ever at either of the dealers yesterday morning.

this ordeal keeps getting better and better. so now, i have to go back to the dealer, make an appointment with the service dept to check my car early in the morning and get this done all over again and then i have to get names of those i talk to and then call back with that info so she can help me.... now at this point in the conversation, im thinking to myself, that im doing more work than customer service is doing for their customer.

needless to say, this is not turning out how i had planned. i didnt plan for it to go 100% smooth but my god, i didnt expect to be dealing with morons.

Wow Aidensgrand! Kudos to you for actually putting that much effort into it. I think i'd give up and steal the girlfriend's blowdryer to try and put some heat on the crease at that point.

Good luck!

@ aidensgrand....i felt your pain. I complained this issue myself to KIA Corporate (800) 333-4542. I even have a case/reference number that is assigned to this problem. I also have the contact person at KIA Corp. So, yes it is a "B S" that they told you that nobody complained.

I even contacted KIA Rep here in New Jersey to take a look at the car. To make the story short, She (Kia Rep) and Service Mgr both saw the creases on a cold day. She said, that their body shop will "fix" the problem at NO cost to me. My appointment is on Monday 4-18-11. My concern is how can they fix the "crease" on Monday if the weather continues to be warm (and not to be able to see the creases).

Will see.......

Guys, If the dealerships didn't put anything about the problem into the database -- I.E. if they didn't open a workorder the Kia-USA people won't see anything about the problem. If they call the dealership it would only help if they talk directly to someone who was there...so I can't blame them for aidensgrand situation. However if there are some case numbers for this then they should see some problems out there.

I've talked to my dealer too...didn't open a workorder because we're both at a loss on how to fix it... If it is the insulation/hardener then it would have to be removed -- and that is not going to be easy. You would probably cause distortion of the door skin if you try to remove it from the door, resulting in having to fix and repaint...and it is not possible to get to the insulation/hardener behind the quarter panel.

If we were to put a new door on it the paint WILL NOT match perfectly. Since it is a metal flake paint the chances are extremely high that the shine will give away the new door since you would have to get the metal flake to lay the same way as the orignal paint on the fender and quarter panel to keep the shine from giving it away...which is better, cold creases or paint reflective give-away?
