Has anyone else experienced this? I have a Koup with almost 125,000 when I’m at a stoplight my car seems to lunge forward violently. Last night I heard my tires squelch, when I put my foot on the gas then it went away.

It doesn’t happen very often seems to be an intermittent problem. Most of the the it happens when I don’t fully stop

I’ve tried to rule out possible reasons such as failing sensors. But I’m starting to think it might have something to do with the clutch or transmission

Automatic? You say that it happens when you don't fully stop...could it be that your tranny isn't in low gear (1st) as you are slowing then when you give it some gas to accelerate the tranny is banging down to 1st gear providing a "kick in the pants"?

Sounds like it needs engine mounts to me. When they get worn out the engine gets really jerky, especially if it's a manual transmission.

You know, when you don’t do a full stop at a stop sign

Yup, that seems to be a problem: I had it in park and the engine seems to be wobbling

So I got the mounts it says to put the car on jack stands, but If I'm replacing the transmission mount only right now do I still need to put the car on jack stands? I bought a floor jack from Autozone, and have two older jack stands. The jack stand not having any luck because it is a piece of crap

Shouldn't need to put it on jack stands for any of them. Just lightly jack against the bottom of the engine (just so it's touching, enough to keep it in place) so the engine won't drop when you replace the mounts. For the lower dogbone transmission mount, you don't even need to do that.

I was thinking that, But I see all the youtube videos and everyone is using jack stands. Just being on the safe side because money is tight

Jack stands are a must - for YOUR safety. I prefer ramps - if you can get your hands on them - for engine mounts - use the jack under the engine (piece of wood next to oil pan) to hold it like noturbonoproblem said.

Yep, jackstands are for clearance so you can fit under the car, not because it's nessesary for replacement. I'd HIGHLY recommend ramps over jack stands, especially for jobs like this. You can get them cheap at Harbor Freight and they're pretty good.

Yeah, I was looking at ramps on Amazon. Seemed to be better and easier

I did manage to get one changed tonight, but after that, I was just too tired to go late in the night. The transmission side was done, followed a youtube video. The only problem I had was getting the bolt at the very bottom on the transmission side it was in a tight space so I took the battery out and the holder and ended up just putting a wrench because my socket wrench wouldn't fit. Did most of it with a breaker bar and some sockets from an airgun

Looks both the front and passenger sides were ok, so it has to be the front mount or the rear mount. Jack at the transmission or oil pan?

Usually under engine is sufficient.

Closer to whichever side you are working on will be more effective. Oil pan is usually fine. You only need to support it, so don't put too much pressure on it
