For decades the Honda Civic was in the top 3 - now it's not in the first 19. I wonder why that changed?

I am surprised neither Kia or Hyundai made this list!

Maybe cause other vehicles didn't need a USB cord, a rectangular item as a tool to steal like other vehicles.

When I took out my oem turn key Ignition switch cylinder, to install a Ghost key from Jordandistributors, I took it apart to see if indeed a USB would fit turn & start the car.

Yes it did. I wondered if the 3.0 would've made it faster to get into than 2.0? 😂🤣🤣

I was wondering this myself. Did they steal all of them?

Just had 4 kia/hyundai thefts recoveries or attempted thefts in our quiet town this weekend alone and two the previous weekend (we are on towing). On top of that we turned away 2 repairs and have 2 in the shop now. Hyundai/Kia are the only cars we see getting stolen in this area. This is one of the reasons I got rid of our 2023 Forte's with a key ignition even though they had the immobilizer in the key. Highly considering swapping our daughter out of her 2022 Forte GT-line for a 2025 Mazda 3 as well. I love Kia/hyundai but between the thefts, motor failures and dct issues it is a rough patch they are in right now. Making it hard to stay loyal.

It has died down here a lot.

The thing that makes it complicated is those lists are "whole vehicle" claims. This means the car was never recovered or if it was recovered, they are totaled. The large majority of stolen Hyundai and Kia vehicles are recovered and fixed which means they will not show up on these "whole vehicle" theft claim lists. Hyundai and Kia vehicles are not being stolen as part of organized crime that exports the cars or sells them as parts. They are only stolen by kids trying to impress their buddies, or they are stolen and used as transportation to commit other crimes.

The other flaw is about half the Kia’s and Hyundais are never actually stolen. They are broken into, the theft becomes botched for whatever reason and the car is categorized as “vandalism” under insurance and not theft recovery.
