Leather package and ordering...

1735 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  schmitty
Since Kia hasn't updated their site and there is no config script/pricing etc for the 5 door, does anyone have idea if the leather package works the same as it does for the sedan (you have to get a moonroof as well, thus jacking up the price.)?

And as far as ordering a specific car, anyone here care to share their experiences in doing that?

I've only ever purchased 2 cars new so my experience is limited, and I just took what they had on the lot that appealed to me. As it is I cannot find what I want in my region. Any insight is appreciated.

TIA

I was told by a few So Cal dealers that I could not order a car. They just got what came off the ship. I ended up settling by getting the Koup I have but I don't regret it.
The guy talking to me didnt really mention the leather cause I didnt ask. The only package we talked about was the Tech package which was bundled with sunroof. So maybe its all bundled together thatd be like 2500-3000 bucks extra o.o'

Hmmm that doesn't bode well, I've scoured many of the dealers in the southland and not found anything I really want. I wonder who has the manifest of what came off that ship... maybe a call to Irvine ;)
Yeah, just head down to headquarters. "Hi, I'm here to order a car"

I used the KIA website to send out requests to all the dealers in So Cal. No one had exactly what I wanted but if they had something close I got a call from them. Those sales guys are good at keeping your info so if they get what you want in a month or two they will give you a call. Not sure if you are in a hurry to buy but this might get you something that is close to what you want if you can wait.

I have a feeling those 5s will be hard to come by for a while.
Just so everyone knows...I worked as a Salesman at Mark Kia in Scottsdale and yes... you CAN order what you want. It takes 10-12 weeks but you can order. The reason the dealership says no is the they have a stair-step program with KIA and the get better pricing on cars that are in holding facilities in various places. You pay the same price but the dealer gets a better price (more profit for them). If anyone wants to order a car just let me know and I will give you the number to Jorge who is the Southwest regional Manager. He is a friend of mine as well
Wow that is great.

I wish I would have known that since I was in San Diego at the time and wasn't in love with the idea of getting the SULEV version. Oh well.

Hmmm... mebbe not then.

Well as it is I have looked far and wide for the color, trim and options (almost none...) that I desire and it does not exist in this country that I can ascertain, so I'll probably cool my heels for a little while and allow the inventory to build maybe over the next few months or if I just can't wait any longer take a second choice package after I get some things in order.
At the Kia dealership I bought mine at they had a leather with paddle shifters technology package but no sunroof. So I assume you have to get SX to get leather but do not need the tech package because Ive seen other SX's without the tech pack I believe. I can give you the number to them if you want.
