Hello I have a ‘20 Forte Gt line, and just to preface this I am very new to learning about cars in general, and would like to know if using manual mode on a daily basis on my Forte would affect my transmission in the short or long term.

Nope, it’s fine to use. It is a CVT so you aren’t shifting any gears, just moving the cones around yourself instead of letting the computer do it. You will get better mileage in D, but that’s about the only difference you’ll see.
I use sport mode for quicker acceleration with less revs but switch back to smart mode once up to speed. Also use sport mode for deceleration as these cars have virtually no engine braking ability in other modes. Great for around town also as it requires less use of the brakes.
