I wonder if you lose any power from sucking in hot air? Any experience with this open box setup?

I like to refer to the intake as a 'keeping up' mod. It's good for when you're chasing high numbers, as the supporting components like the intake, spark plugs, coils, etc will need to keep up with the power increase.
However if you're not planning to go beyond Stage 1, it's mainly just eye candy, noise makers, etc. as they won't provide much of an increase.

I agree. I only have the k&n drop in filter. I don't think it's worth the $400 for me to add on an entire cold air intake when I'm not planning on going beyond that. I'm only planning on adding suspension components and exhaust. Later on when needed I'll throw on a good set of tires.
