To be honest, I thought installing a system in my Koup would be easy but...... HELP ME!

As of now I bought

*Alpine SWR 1022D (2 ohm) [subwoofer]
*Alpine PDX-M6 [amp]

I'll start off by saying nothing is installed yet. Anyways here are the questions..

*Do I have to replace all the speakers in my car because my subwoofer will overpower everything?

*I really want to keep my head unit, so if I have to replace other speakers is there a way I can keep my head unit?

*Do I need a capacitor?

*Do I need a crossover?

Haha please explain everything to me as simple as possible. I would really appreciate any help I can and my Koup would too because I think she's terrified I'm going to actually go through this :)

Use the search feature, also browse and audio forum, there has been many of these same questions answered before.

but in short, you will need a Line output converter if you want to keep the factory head unit, you dont need to change the factory speakers, just will have to keep your sub turned down so it doesnt overpower. I would not worry about a cap with 1 sub and a small amp, if you had more equipment i would recommend it.

Good luck

Caps will help but will drain your battery slowly if you do not drive your car for lengths at a time ( three weeks plus)

You probably don't need a cap for that small amount of power. You can add it later if you notice console/headlight dimming. That amp is only 600 watts, I was running 800 rms before some slight dimming.

I would add one of these instead... I have over 1300 watts rms running now.. and no dimming!

Kinetik HC600 - Batteries and Battery Isolators - Sonic Electronix

just make sure to add a a fuse of the same rating as the front fuse in between the battery and your amp. That way if you get tboned and the power wire gets split in between the front fuse and the rear battery, you wont have a fire, and if you have a similar accident that causes a split in your wire between your battery and your amp, you wont have a fire.
