whats going on yall. i have a koup sx with the 17" rims
I recently put in a order for these rims

these are the specs
Bolt Pattern:5x114.3
Wheel Size:18x7.5
Offset:42

what tires do you all recommend? Will the factory sized tired fit? I dont want to buy the wrong tires and then be fcukd. ya know?

Well you have 17" rims and bought 18" rims so the stock sized tires will not fit.

To keep the circumference of the tire similar to stock and keep your speedometer as accurate as possible you will need 215/40/18. With that your speedometer will be 0.6% too slow. When your speedometer reads 60mph you will actually be traveling 60.4mph. That's the closest you will ever get.

If you want a wider tire for more grip you can step up to a 225/40/18 and that will be 1.9% too slow. When speedometer reads 60mph you will be traveling 61.1mph.

currently live in GA where its 60 all the time and we never get snow (savannah), plus i take my rims off in the winter anyways. so yeah.

yea i'd stick with either 215 or 225 and either get 40 series or 45 depending if u want a thicker sidewall or thinner...i have 215/35/18

I'd go with 215/40/18.

PS: i love those rims, they remind me of the BMW X6 rims

Yes because the sidewall aspect ratio changes with width. It's the percentage of the width not a straight measurement.

So a 225/45 tire is taller than a 215/45 tire because that's saying the sidewalls are 45% of the width. So 45% of 225 is more than 45% of 215.

yeah i think i decided to go with 225/40/18 which from my understanding is a wider tire, with a thinner wall? either way sounds straight to me. and im deciding between 2 brands, nitto and toyo, leaning towards nitto because it seems to be the only tire anyone around this damn place carries!

Go with Toyo, TR1 or Proxies 4, I have used them in my last 3 cars and they are great. Definitely step it up to a 225/40/18 as it will give you more grip.

ok so i just got off the phone with a couple dealers toyo site said carried them, and they all told me they stopped carrying them because they were wearing too fast and people have been having lots of problems with them.

Alternative?
