Hello,

Started my car today and the blind spot monitoring check light is on, EPB, stability control and check engine light are all on. I put it into drive and won't go past 2nd gear. I disconnected the battery and let it sit. I am at a loss on what it could be.

Disconnected battery for around an hour and same issues. I think it's weird how all these different systems are alerting on the dash board. It's almost like it's in limp mode. It's a 22 only 15k on it so if it was the trans I'd be fine with that.

Do you have the warranty on it? If so it's definitely dealership time.

I own a scan tool that does a lot more than read codes. Every owner should have a basic OBDII scan tool with erase feature - they're CHEAP. Even though I have a warranty I will check my car if anything happens - even a "Clear Codes" command can potentially fix a car and make it drivable. Better then sitting and waiting for a tow truck!

BTW, can you recommend any good OBD tool? Does Hyundai/Kia have something similar to VW (VCDS) or Ford (UCDS)?

Any OBDII with erase feature is sufficient - you can look at them at Autozone, for example.

I gave these to my children:

I use an Actron CP9180 - it's old but still effective. Not only can it read codes and PENDING codes but it can scan all sensors and give live data PLUS store 19 seconds of data so that you can drive the car and check that sensor data is within specifications. The newer Actron CP9680 would be good for this.

What about changing internal settings? Like, for example, change door locks behavior from "moving transmission to D" to "when car gets 15 km/h"? Or set multimedia off not when just car turned off, but + when driver's door opens.

These are examples of software I mean:

None of those I mentioned will accomplish those tasks. For Kia you'll need to spend a lot more to do that.

I will be buying a code reader for this car. My other cars have code readers from the handheld tuner. So I thought to myself let me check kia access and it showed 2 check engine codes. P010800 and P023700. Looks like a possible map sensor issue which is crazyfor only 15k miles on a 22 forte gt.
