Hello all,

I'm still relatively young so I'm just now starting to learn in-depth about cars, and this is the first time I've ever used a forum lol. Sorry if I put this in the wrong section or something like that! I'll be happy to post pictures and stuff, although I'm not sure where.. I'm trying to get better at car photography while building up my appearance simultaneously. I'm new to Kia as well, and I'm absolutely loving this little car. I've painted my wheels + calipers (properly, they came out great), wrapped my roof carbon black (will probably re-do gloss black later on) and I currently have spacers being shipped tomorrow. Really makes the car pop a lot more.

Speaking of pop, I'm hoping to install the X Force valved cat back, but I can't seem to find a real comparison between the cat back and the stock exhaust. By that, I mean I want to ask how much louder exactly the cat back would be? I have a fair bit of money right now, I'm willing to always spend a chunk more later, but I feel like the exhaust is my personal preference and I need something quite a bit louder. I keep saying I need a visible idle noise, and nothing much louder as I would hate to sound like an eBay civic. I'm also wondering if there's any change in noise level between the valved and non-valved versions.

If anyone has any links to threads, videos, dB comparisons, I'll be happy to look at them!

Also, I notice how everyone keeps talking about the Boomba shifter kit. My shifter is definitely a little floppy, and feels like the car has a dying wish to get out of first gear while having trouble getting into second. I'm wondering if I would need the entire kit for the entire experience, or just the transmission adapter? I'm definitely wishing to get a new shift knob though, but it's not at the top of my list.

Thanks!

Been looking at Arith's build for some time, it's got some inspiration to it! I also love that you help out so much with all these replies, it's definitely given me a lot of second thoughts about some "cool sounding mods" I've looked at.

I was hoping for a video with both stock and the X Force in it, although I've searched the internet and couldn't find it myself, and those are great videos themselves. I've heard that the closed valve on the X Force sounds close or a little louder than the stock muffler, if anyone can confirm that? I can kind of get a preview from the Panda video with that information.

Lol, feels like I have to type so formally on forums compared to what I usually type like :geek:

Forgot to add this in the original post, but does 91/93 octane really make a difference on a bone stock GT? I can kinda see why, being turbocharged and all, but is it really that significant? Saw something about a Soul dropping a 1/2 second on a 0-60 with 93 and it blew my mind. If so, what should I run? 89/91/93?

This is one of THOSE questions that will illicit passionate personal responses. No one has done any thorough research to prove 93 is really worth it. I too have seen the article about the Soul.

I run 87 in my GT because I don't drive it hard. However, If I was intending to use it for maximum power I would run 93 all the time.

I have the Evilla cat-back exhaust with Magnaflow resonator (midpipe) and Evilla sport resonator (muffler position) - it is not loud unless you open the throttle...:).

It is loud when you open the throttle, but normal driving it is not going to draw the cops...:)

I just installed the shifter/bushings/knob yesterday. I have the transmission adapter/bushings too but I won't get them installed until next weekend.

First impression of the shifter upgrade-- DO IT. The slop is gone. Just gone. I can't express with words how much better it is.

As far as knobs go, since the stock shifter is some lame proprietary contraption, you have to replace the shifter to use a different knob. If you only get one mod, do the shifter. It's a little time consuming and involved, but so worth it.

Ordered the catback yesterday. Shipping says 1-2 days, but man oh man I can only wish it takes that long.. ended up going without the valved portion. Can always add it on later.

I‘ll see what I can get for scrapping the stock exhaust, if I pull enough out of it I‘m between the Air Design front splitter (it just makes the front end look SO good) and the shifter. Probably nothing else will happen for a fat while though, so alot of time to think.
