After two weeks of constant research, test drives, price estimation & trade in values. I finally bought the Kia Forte SX Koup in black, took delivery today, and drove it all the way around GTA on the 401. To be honest, I simple love it
. The stares I got were pleasing enough, but in the end two guys in a 08 Acura TL even followed me to my driveway, to ask what car it is.. lol. And the looks on their faces when they saw that its a Kia and the price, was very satisfying.
2.5 years ago, I bought a brand new 2008 Pontiac G5 GT (top of the line with 260W Pioneer sound system + sub, sunroof, blah blah blah). And just under a year ago, GM went bust. Even though I expected that I would be making a loss on this car, but never I thought that market values for the G5 would drop this much. I bought it for 25 K at the time, 5 Depo and the rest was financed. By the time I was thinking of trading it in, G5 GT market value is now $5000, and still I had to make $10,000 to pay off GM.
I went from Lexus IS250 AWD to Nissan Sentra SER to Mazda 6 GS to Honda Accord Sedan to Hyundai Genesis Coupe to VW Jetta Sportline to finally the Kia Forte Koup SX. None of the dealerships would offer more than $4000 for the G5, which made my life hell because I could not afford to buy a reasonable new car and at the same time pay off the remaining value for GM.
Kia at 401 & Dixie, gave me a deal I could not refuse. First they offered $5000, then immediately (after a call to GM @ Yonge) when they had a walk around the car they offered $8,900 + ($500 for kia accessories). I took it. And now I can't be happier
. Got my car and the 10% discount cards on labor and parts, and drove off!
Its only been 60 Kms, but so far am totally satisfied. A big change from Kia, and totally unexpected! A lot of value for your money.
