New Kia Forte Sedan SX Owner - Good Deal?

My wife and I just recently got a new 2010 Forte Sedan SX in Spicy Red with all the options except for leather & homelink as it wasn't available on this vehicle. We really like the cloth interior anyway so we're not missing the leather option. As for the homelink, I really wanted that but it didnt' come standard however the dealer said they could order it & install it for $400 total. I thought that was a bit much so I'll wait on that.

We were debating on this SX or the EX in Dark Cherry (with similar options) which was our 1st color choice but the interior of the EX was far more mundane and lack luster compared to the SX. Plus we got the SX at a better price than we could have gotten the EX for so we're totally content. Anyway, here's the break down. We thought we got a great deal. What do you think?

MSRP: $19,890
Dealer Markup Price: $20,890 (not sure what the $1000 mark up is for)
Dealer Discount after haggling: $3,890
Dealer Price: $17,000
Kia Rebate: $1500
Price After Rebate: $15,500
Tax/Title/Reg in CA: $1900 (roughly)
Total Financed for 36mos @ 0.9%: $17,400

We could have gotten 0% financing but they said the price on the vehicle would be $500 more so we opted for the 0.9% as it'll save us roughly $250 over the 3 years.

the home link is useless! lol trust me i have it. the autodimming gets annoying after awhile, the compass i could live with out, and 3 garage door openers?? not worth it. save the $400

Definately not going to get it through the dealer however I did find the mirror for $205 and can get it installed for about $50 so I'm going to do it as I do have a need for the 3 garage door openers if you can believe that. 1 for my garage, 1 for the security gate at my sister-in-law's house (sucks to have to get out of the car to punch in the security code) and 1 for her garage. For $255 is worth it to me. Thanks for the input though.
Yes the mirror is available from KIA as a OEM part kit. Not must to install either.
I take it that it had alloys. I do not consider any vehicle unless it has four wheel disks and alloys. I haven't reviewed the standard features and options on the 2010 models.

Based on what you have posted, I'd say you received a pretty decent deal. I don't know if the information is still available but Edmunds will tell you what the going price for any vehicle is. I'd check there for the definitive word.

The additional dealer mark-up is a lot of bulloney. Ignore it. I have no idea why they do this unless it is to catch idiots who will pay the full sticker price. Otherwise I find it very annoying. The local Kia dealer where my bought my 2011 said immediately it was meaningless. I'll take him at his word.

If you want a quick comparison of values, I was just at the local Ford dealer where I had a tire repair and the sticker on the new Taurus on the showroom floor was over $40,000. That should make you feel better.

Yeah, it came with the 17" Alloy Wheels and ABS disk brakes.

Our sales guy told us the same thing about the dealer mark up. I wonder what the whole point of it is then? Even if someone were to pay MSRP for the vehicle they would have to be really crazy to pay over sticker. I guess some people really need to have it first and may be willing to pay a mark up for it. I guess the iPhone is an example of that. People were paying twice (or more) it's value just to have it when it first came out. I don't know about you but I'm willing to wait a bit. I don't have money to burn.
I got my my EX for $15k even, TT&L, using CarWoo.com. Was easy to barter online. I just went down, signed the papers and was out in 45 minutes with my new sedan just like I wanted it. I love my Kia!!!

Sounds like a great deal. What options did you get on your EX? I checked out carwoo.com and it looks interested but you have to pay a fee to join? I guess this service could help some people.
When I found Carwoo, they had a free trial membership, didn't cost me a penny. The dealership manager didn't know about his facility being signed up with Carwoo. One of the sales associates signed them up without his permision. When I produced the paperwork to him he said "what the hell is this". I said "I don't know, you figure it out, where's my car" :D. My EX has pretty much everything I guess. Full power options but no specialty lighting on the interior, cloth seats. Had the windows blacked out and I added the splash guards all the way around. The clear white paint and black accents looks really good.

It's sounds to me that you got a VERY GOOD deal yourself.
good deal. the homelink is great and all but hardly use the garage opener and compass.
