Service manual from Kia Tech Info for my Kia Forte 2018 shows "lubricating the steering rack yoke" with a special grease under "replacement" section of steering rack repair information.

I'm putting in a brand new rack from eBay, official Genuine Kia OEM part from a parts seller in New condition.

Do I need to do this for a brand new rack or is the manual just messing with me? (seems like Hyundai/Kia service info likes to do this sometimes, extraneous steps, steps missing, etc).

If it is something I need to do, I definitely don't want to skip it and mess up the install of a brand new steering rack. But wouldn't a brand new rack already have this grease installed?

If it were me installing it, I'd make sure there was grease already installed and add grease anyway to make sure it was done. The problem is trusting the people who put it together...rather be safe than sorry...
