Finally got my system done today
I got a 12" earthquake matched up with same brand amp of 1000 watts.
This thing kicks hard ! I love it. However one quick question - what do you guys think would be better to even make the sound louder/clearer, new speakers or a new head unit?
Thanks in advance!

speakers first. then head unit. factory speakers in the forte are ok. but distort easily when turned up to max. and if you do get an after market headunit make sure the power output is a little lower or equivalent to the speakers power handleing. that's what causes the distortion, ergo, not good sound.

P.S. congrats on getting the sub and amp installed. did you get a prefab box or did you make the box?

congrats on the new woofer and amp.

wherever you're getting your stuff done, see if they can do a deal with you to do the speakers & a new head unit at the same time. if you put new speakers in, and your head unit is old - it wont have enough preamp to power your new speakers to their fullest. but if you put in a new head unit first, then you're just going to get sound out of your speakers of the same quality as before, even tho the preamp outputs are better. see what im saying? so if you can work a deal where they'll get you a good price on it all at once, then i'd do it that way.
