Went out and got a Bosch premium filter and 5 quarts of 0w-30 mobil 1.

Is there any reason to change the oil afteer the 600 mile break-in instead of waiting 7500 miles? Kina makes me nervous being as it can be assumed that the break-in period probably puts all kinds of stuff in the oil.

That and i want full-PAO oil in my car lol

Not really just as a precaution, im not worried about it, my first oil change scheduled by the dealer is at 3500miles....you might want to check about that because if you don't do it at the correct times it can void your warranty, your Power train warranty!!! My dealer said that if I do it myself i had to record it in the manual for future reference in case something happens...but i got the coupons for the maintenance and it say the first one is at 37xx miles...

you might want to reconsider that filter too. there have been several threads on here of people claiming that if you do not use factory filters it will void warranty

I would drive until 750 miles and do an oil change, then drive until 1500 miles and do another oil change, and then wait until 5000 miles and do another oil change and do a regular oil change from there on every 3-5k miles whichever you like, most likely will get more life from your engine when the end comes, I read that up awhile back, if I find the article again, I'll post it on here.

Kia cannot legally void your warranty for using a different brand-name filter. If they tried they could (and should) be slapped with a lawsuit.

thats the same as them voiding your warranty if you use any other brand of oil but their own.

So I hit 730 miles today (1175 km) and decided to change my oil at work.. I used Castrol Syntec Full Synthetic 5w-20 4.8 quarts... I'm glad I was anxious and impatient and changed my oil because I was utterly and thoroughly shocked at what I saw... I've been changing oil for quite a long time and on a lot of new vehicles for there first oil change ever usually around 3000 miles grant you and have never seen anything this bad for a brand new car's first oil change... My oil was literally so thick I could essentially grab it and it was JET BLACK like I've seen on vehicles that have gone 8-10,000 miles because of stupidity... My filter looked utterly disgusting as well internally and was so gunked up... Out of curiosity has anyone seen this on there own Koup yet or anything even close.. My vehicle was manufactured in November and only had 58 miles when I bought it so why the hell does it look like it has oil thats been there for a year???? As soon as I left work and went for a ride to make sure everything was ok and It seemed to be more responsive and a ltlle more quiet which is what I expected but I'm still dismayed at how nasty it was.. KiaTech any ideas on what could have happened or have you seen this yet, or anyone who has changed their own oil yet???

^^^Damn that always sux!!! I usually don't see those go until around 30,000 miles at the earliest and that's few and far between...
Yeah it sucks...but it's covered under warranty. Not a huge leak, just some seepage. I'll get it fixed soon. I've heard of a few of Koup's having this issue too.
