I know that Huyndai's and Kia's are sensible to oil filters and the low pressure thing is known... Plus, if u use cheap filters like fram or homebrands, they leave some particles of filter in the engine... not really good !!!

At the price that the dealer sell their maintenance things, it don't really worth trying tu use anything else, only to save a couple of bucks...

Considering an aftermarket oil filter as a modification is maybe a little bit abusive....

so you are screwed because your non kia oil filter "caused" a camshaft position sensor code? doesn't make sense to me. call them out or go to a different dealer. call corporate. do whatever to stop them from stealing from you and other people. This is why nobody wants to buy kia's: not the car quality, the dealership experience is mostly terrible.

At the first sight, i was thinking the same, but.. found that :

Possible Causes:
Incorrect camshaft timing
VCT solenoid valve stuck open or continuous oil flow to piston chamber Camshaft advance mechanism binding, or faulty VCT unit

Diagnostic Help:
This check engine light code is caused by a mechanical fault of the VCT unit or related components, so there is no need for electrical diagnosis. Possible symptoms may include rough idle, stall or hard start. Refer to manufacturer specific component tests for the VCT unit.
