I went to autozone the other day and got an intake pipe, an air filter and and an arm. I saw how turbokits did their CAI so I basically paterned this one after it. installing it almost exaclty the same way. and it works well, it sounds really nice. I'm sure it doesn't add as much HP and torque as the turbokits one, but In total I paid approximately $70 for it. The only thing I worry about is getting water sucked through the intake. I've had it in for a month now and haven't had any problems.

How did get the parts the other day and have been running it for a month now?? Post some pics, I would like to see what you mean by worried about water pickup.

lol sorry I meant to say a month ago. I'll take some pics. I don't know too much about it, but the intake is facing downward practically touching the plastic underbody part. I was worrying that If I were to accidentaly drive through a puddle, that it could suck up water. I have a friend with a celica that killed his engine from water entering the intake, however he had one of those tubes that go down to the bottom grill.
You use the term "the other day" the same way I do. When I say it I mean some time in the last six months.

Here are the photo's by the way.

Yeah its not that far down. It's above your lower rad hose. Stay away from flooded ditches and ponds. If your gonna go submersing yourself just shutoff the engine first. Easier ways to fully clean your car though...
What parts did you get bro?

I dont know if I should get the 60 or 90 degree bend and how long of tubing would I need to do this? I have an autozone near by.

Ok basically at autozone you should find an entire tubing kit, comes with everything including the little rubber tube for the sensor thing. what you'll need to get extra is the 60 degree bend and the cone filter which you should find also at autozone. When you install it you will have to take one section from the tubing off otherwise it will be a bit too long.
And that's about it. :)

Alright thanks man:)
Thanks alot, im going to the Zone right now! Ill post pics, is it detrimental that the air go past the ECU though? Im still iffy about that ECU being cooled efficiently. Its going to be 104 degrees all week long.
dude. i got the same spectre filter. they sound awesome. except i assembled mine as a short ram instead of cold air
So I bought a kit and it definitely didn't work out. I bought there 39.99 kit, its this one:

I also purchased the 60 degree bend. But because of this type of kit, it was useless. So I figured out now that there was another kit that you probably purchased and ended up not using the center piece. You switched it out with a 60 deg. bend. Am I correct?

So, I did find Spectre is in Ontario which is just minutes from my house. I can pay the normal cost of their kits and they will custom make a kit to fit exact to my vehicle. They will install for free as well. Basically they will just be taking the guess work out of it for me by putting on the correct couplers, hoses, bends and straights. So I think I'm going to go that route.

you can use that one just cut it to shorten it a bit thats what I did, it looks better than the other kit thats in pieces and spectre is the way to go it's way cheaper than the TK one
I was thinking that, but I want to actually put the Filter under the battery area. I know the temp off the engine bay is hot, but 104 degree weather is cooler than the engine heat. So I'm going to try and figure out how to make this work. I will surely need a different coupler from the TB to the Intake, it was able to slip it of the Throttle body even though it was tightened down.

That's a southern thing. my wife is from ga. She'll say the other day and mean 6 months ago. Sometimes when she says that I look at her and try to figure out how long ago "the other day" was.

As far as the ecu goes. I've been driving with that and did put the ramair back on all summer. Have not had a problem yet(knock on wood).
i was thinking abut doing this mod cause it looks great, but then i was afraid of water getting in the engine and causing hydro lock so i did some research. they have cone filter shields. found a few, they cover half the filter so it protects it from heat/water, while still letting air flow freely. i found it on ebay, price range is $17-$50. i just ordered it, ill post pics when it shows up!
