I went to a local bodyshop to see about getting my roof painted black. He said he would do it but that he couldnt get the paint down in where the sunroof opens. You know the little bit of sheet metal of the roof that gores down in the small area that the sunroof rests in. Has anyone else that has their roof painted had this problem? Please advise. I dont want to do it if there is gonna be a line when opening the sunroof. Wont look good and will chip easily..

Removing the sunroof is rather easy -- 4 10MM nuts and away it goes...LoL

Certainly they could remove the sunroof and properly tape off enough to prevent overspray from getting in the interior but coating the edges to do what you want.

Yes to remove the sun roof is easy but.... you need to remove just about every piece of interior trim including headliner to do so. Therefore job is bigger and more expensive than you think.

To take the glass off so that they can paint the edges around the opening would not require removing anything but the sunroof glass. When they did the TSB on my sunroof noise they only removed the glass and nothing else -- you could easily paint the edges when the glass is removed. Just have to protect everything under this from overspray.

So to remove the entire sunroof is just 4 bolts? Or is that for the sunroof glass? I already took down the headliner myself and installed dynamat on the entire roof. Is it that easy to remove the sunroof?

See the TSB BOD057 for the Koup sunroof noise on Kia Global Tech...it is that simple...

I've tried enlarging the picture 3 times to no avail...can one of the administrators make it large enough to read please?
