I wonder if anyone else has noticed this.

OK, so I'm playing music from a USB stick and have the random feature selected. When I turn car off then back on, the system will continue to play the same song, even the same point in the song, from when I turned off the car. However, the random feature is now off. So I turn it back on and then when the bluetooth reconnects and I get the "Transfer Complete" message and the random feature goes off again. Turn it back on now and it will stay on until I turn off the car again.

Annoying more than anything, every other stock and aftermarket head unit I've had always remembered the settings. I've brought this up at my dealer and the tech is going to look into it. Just curious if anyone else has seen this. Also, does this happen if you play a CD or mp3 disk, I haven't tried that yet.

The random feature turns off for me if anything interrupts playback (i.e. phonebook transfer, engine start, incoming call, etc...). I figured that's just the way the system was. Please do let us know if there's something the dealer can do about this.

Is there anyway you can play music from your mobile phone if you have a usb connection? I have an LG Dare and it comes with a usb cable. I also have an 8gb micro sd card with music on it, but when I plug my phone in the usb connection it does not recognize it. Am I doing something wrong or am I trying to do the impossible?

If you plug your phone into your computer, does it recognize the phone as a standard USB drive? If not, then it won't see it at all.

My dealer checked a couple of other cars on the lot at they all reset the random feature so it seems to be an oversight in the system programming.

No it is not impossible, it really should work actually. I've successfully done this using a Blackberry and a Pioneer USB enabled head unit.

You may have to enable a "mass storage" mode somewhere within the settings of the device. When you plug your phone into a PC what happens, does it see it as another drive? On many devices when mass storage is enabled and it is plugged into a PC, incoming events are blocked (calls, text messages, etc..) so that is something that you may possibly face, it just depends how LG coded it.

If you plug your phone into a pc.. and it comes up as a drive and you can move music back and forth without needing any special software.. then the kia will read it with usb..

otherwise your stuck using the small headphone jack..

Thanks for the reply fellas. I forgot that there is an option under the tools setting on the phone where I can enable USB mass storage but it shuts off the phone features. I think I'm just gonna stick with the memory stick. Thanks for the info though.

Yeah I had the same problem with my blackberry 8800.. Mass Storage would completely disable mess up the apps on the blackberry, and it was really inconvenient to switch back and forth.

BigE, when you turn on the random feature does it play songs randomly from the entire USB drive or just the current folder?

Sorry BigE, I just found by other post where you answered: "Press and hold the random button until it comes up ARDM instead of RDM. Thats All Random which will do the entire drive."

Thanks! :)

I've noticed that, on a CD, if I put on the random feature its always the same order of tracks for that specific cd (ie it will play 8, 2, 10, 11, etc every time from one cd) and it seems to be a different order than that with all other cds, but they all stay the same per cd.
pretty strange randomizer...

I gave the push and hold a try and it works great until anything happens. I mean anything, even answering or making a phone call. This is quite annoying and I would class it as a bug not a feature or lack there of. So I too hope there will be a formware fix for it.

In fact the random feature should be remembered and for which source. For example I listen to my music on USB sticks, and listen to audio books on CD. Therefore if I set RDM on for the USB then it should not be on for the CD player. I have not checked this yet but I hope it is true.

I guess I got spoiled with the radio that was in my last car (2006 Chevey Malibu). It remembered all the tone setting etc for each source and even for radio stations. If I set the tone to "Talk" for the local talk radio station and "Rock" for the local classic rock station it would remember the setting. Once you have had features like that you start to expect them to be standard. I hope I am not too dissapointed.
